WebGate Anywhere 3.x

Are the individual components of the website administrated in a file system or in a database? If database, is it a system-owned database or can also other database systems be used? The content maintained in WebGate Anywhere is stored to (nearly) any SQL database or in a Lotus Notes database.
Additionally existing content from any data source can be published, u.e. JDBC enabled databases, XML databases, data received from Web services, ... Is there an integrated media database for pictures, among others? WebGate Anywhere brings a media database any data can be stored to and administered in (pictures, documents, sounds, ...). Which attributes (for example, version, authorisation, publication and expiry date, META information) can be assigned to individual components or sites? WebGate Anywhere includes a integrated versioning tool.
All content documents contain information about readers access, validation dates (from - to), keyword list, author information, workflow history, short description of content, ... Individual meta data can be added by the use of templates. To which extent are templates used? All content documents are maintained and published through templates. The Website layout as well is defined through templates so that even several layouts at one time are possible (i.e. a layout for each medium, etc.). Is there an integrated search function for the website? WebGate Anywhere contains integrated full text search as well as possibilities to select and to publish documents by queries. Is there the possibility to automatically generate sitemaps and index sites? WebGate Anywhere generates all navigation elements automatically on the basis of the document structure. Even automatic calculation of sitemaps is possible.
Index pages such as "Top News", product listings etc. can be computed dynamically by "stored queries". Is there an automatic link verification with a corresponding correction? As navigators and index pages are computed dynamically, WebGate Anywhere guarantees that all links are functioning at any time. Documents that cannot be published (validation date expired, readers access denied, ...) are not displayed in the navigation elements.
For manually created links an external link checker is available. Can you define dynamic categories on websites, in which further relevant links are indicated? Categories can be computed and displayed dynamically on the basis of the site structure. Additionally, categories can be computed dynamically by document properties (i.e. document type).
The content of the categories (links and additional information) is dynamic. Is it possible to design a generally valid navigation, which is adapted to the context? WebGate Anywhere computes navigation elements on the basis of the site structure as well as on the basis of conditions. Thus a context-related navigation is possible. Is there an integrated version backup? WebGate Anywhere contains an integrated versioning tool. Any document that has ever been published is archived in a separate version and can be the basis for a new version at any time. Can a version backup be implemented through additional software? A version control of external software is not planned.
Basically WebGate Anywhere consists of an authoring and a publishing module that can be used separately. Thus it is possible that a customer uses his own content management tool and only publishes the content with the publishing module. Can earlier versions of the website or individual components be reestablished and if yes, to which extent? Archived documents can be re-acitvated at any time by using them for a new working copy and by submitting this copy for approval.
A roll-back of the complete Website to a defined stand is not possible. A global roll-back can practically not be possible as Websites not only consist of maintained content but also consist of integrated content from backend systems. Is there an integrated template editor? WebGate Anywhere contains an integrated text editor for maintaining templates. The use of the integrated WebDAV interface is even more interesting as it allows the use of any HTML or XML editor for maintaining templates because those tools offer syntax coloration and automatic tag extension which makes them much comfortable. Can external editors be integrated? If yes which? External editors can be used for maintainance of templates by WebDAV interface. The editors must have a WebDAV client (i.e. Frontpage, XML-Spy,) or they can access the templates in a Web folder from Windows 2000/XP. Is there an object-oriented authoring? WebGate Anywhere basically works document-orientated but each document can embedd any objects computed from any sources (i.e. external systems or other content documents). Can multilingual contents be administrated? WebGate Anywhere basically manages all content multi lingual. Are multilingual clients available? Clients are available in German and English. With which techniques can an editor transfer contents to the system? Normally content is maintained via browser interface or other clients. Additionally, content can be imported nonrecurring or on a regular basis by the use of gateways. Which possibilities are there for editors to work on contents? Any content can be maintained with any available client.
Maintaining content with the browser follows the WYSIWYG principle: new documents are created in the final design from the very beginning. Editable elements can be opened and edited separately. Optionally, content can be maintained using Web forms.
