WebGate Anywhere 3.x

Which document types can be imported? Different document formats can be imported depending on the authoring client used.
When using the browser client unformated text and HTML can be imported. When using the Word client all formats Word supports can be imported.
When using the Lotus Notes client all formats the Notes client supports can be imported. Can external database accesses be implemented? WebGate Anywhere is supplied with connectors for JDBC, Webservices and Lotus Domino. Additional connectors are in progress (i.e. B.JCA).
Additionally, individual connectors can be implemented in Java using the Java API for WebGate Anywhere.
WebGate Anywhere uses so-called "virtual repositories" to publish content to the intranet. The idea is not only to publish the content especially prepared for the intranet but to publish any existing information as content. For designers it is thus possible to treat SAP data, Oracle data or Notes documents all the same and to present them in Web or in a Portal. Content managed by WebGate Anywhere is on the other side available to other applications and portals.
WebGate Anywhere devides the tasks "application development" and "design" according to the model-view-controller principle: the application developer generates the access mechanism by configuration of WebGate Anywhere or by using Java modules. The designer can use these modules as if they were content. So, data access codes only have to be stored once and can be used at any place in the intranet. Alteration of the data access code can be done later without having to change the design code. How can exisiting websites be imported? Websites consisting of static HTML can normally not be imported automatically as they do not follow the separation of layout, structure and content.
Single pages can be imported manually. For large migration projects import agents can be developed that import equal documents in batch. [Basic information] [Asset managament] [Availabilty] [Content syndication] [Expandable] [Import] [Performance] [Personalisation] [Workflow] [XML] |
