Web Based Training One Step Further
The constantly increasing pressure exerted on businesses to adapt their products and services to changing market requirements brings new challenges to the training of employees and partner organizations. These challenges can no longer be met with traditional classroom training alone.
The Hyperwave eLearning Suite uniquely combines web-based training, specifically learning in a virtual classroom via the intranet or extranet, with the efficient use of vast amounts of corporate memory. Elearning based on knowledge management thus becomes a regular part of daily work.
From traditional classroom training to Ad-hoc learning
In the past, internal training has generally been given in traditional classroom situations. However, some of the disadvantages of this method include the cost of the course travel time and higher rates of cancellations over other options. With Hyperwave eLearning Suite an Ad-hoc approach can be adopted allowing companies to take a more flexible approach to training.
The Ad-hoc approach bridges the gap between everyday work and learning situations by integrating with work processes and offering the appropriate learning resource at each step. Using the work processes as a navigation aide, business, knowledge, and learning resources can be linked to specific tasks and can be used for multiple training modules. In doing this, the eLearning Suite helps to ensure that the latest resources are used at each step and allows the re-use of content.
The Hyperwave eLearning Suite combines the benefits of traditional classroom settings with the advantages of web and computer-based training. This virtual classroom can access training materials and units at any time, from any place. This allows trainees to undertake training content on demand.
The Hyperwave eLearning Suite eliminates the major dis-advantages associated with these "technology-based" courses, in particular the absence of communications and cooperation features, by allowing all participants (trainees, tutors, and trainers) to contribute to assignments and tasks using email, chats, audio/video conferencing or discussion forums, both in regard to courses as well training progress.
Enterprise Content Management forms the foundation
The Hyperwave eLearning Suite is based on Hyperwave IS/6, our platform for Enterprise Content Management. The Hyperwave eLearning Suite has a number of functions that convey the knowledge of the company and corporate memory efficiently and in a way that is didactically logical. Therefore, employees can be trained fast and efficiently
Besides a customizable user interface, the Hyperwave eLearning Suite offers integration with the Hyperwave eKnowledge Portal, which makes the information and functions available to users (trainee, trainer, or tutor) in accordance with their specific roles.
eLearning content
The Hyperwave eLearning Suite is part of the Hyperwave collaborative Enterprise Content Management (ECM) infrastructure, the solution that connects people with information, enabling collaboration and delivery of knowledge throughout the extended organization.
This integration means that all information stored in the knowledge management repository, whether project status reports, usage instructions, or units of an existing course, can be used as part of other courses. This means that, on the one hand, courses are always made up of the latest information, while every employee can play a role both as trainee and trainer at the same time.
Authorized access to the repository is enabled via the integrated WebDAV support or the Hyperwave Explorer* and can be integrated seamlessly into the user's Windows desktop. The Hyperwave eLearning Suite supports SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) and AICC (Aviation Industry CBT Committee), which have become the virtual standards for traditional computer and web-based training courses.
Familiar working in web browsers
In traditional classroom situations, educational material is handed out, filled with notes and comments by trainees. These notes and comments help explain the content, especially when it comes time to work through the course documentation again later. The Hyperwave eLearning Suite gives participants this same opportunity. A trainee can insert private or public notes in the course content and even direct them as a question to the appropriate tutor. Question and answer pairs are saved at the corresponding points of text and are thus a valuable help for other trainees.
