Are the individual components of the website administrated in a file system or in a database? If database, is it a system-owned database or can also other database systems be used?
Stellent distinguishs maneged assets between structure and the content itself.

All structures, system metadata and content metadata (including information about access rights, version control etc.) are stored and maintained in a relational database system (Oracle, MS SQL Server, DB/2, Sybase, Informix).

The contents are stored in their original format and as a webviewable format (converted with Stellents conversion technology) in a secured file system area.
This allows both the possibility to alter contents in their original application as well as high performance delivery into websites or portal applications.

Is there an integrated media database for pictures, among others?
Stellent Digital Asset Management

Stellent® Digital Asset Management enables organizations to quickly and easily access, manage, share, optimize and re-use corporate digital assets, such as training videos, conference call recordings, depositions and corporate branding graphics and images.

Web-Based, Easy-to-Use Digital Asset Management
Your solution starts with a core Stellent server, which provides search, security, workflow and revision control for all types of content. Stellent Digital Asset Management is built upon the core Stellent server foundation, providing additional functionality specific for image transformations, formatting and compression, enhanced audio and video streaming, and automatic thumbnail generation.

For the business user: Once content is created, the Stellent Digital Asset Management system gives the user multiple options for checking the file into the repository. All check-in methods (browser-based, WebDAV, integrations with desktop applications, etc.) can automate processes — such as file transformations, multiple renditions of a file being generated, approval requirements, thumbnail generations, etc. — that used to be completed manually. In addition, Stellent Image Converter can quickly reformat an image to the appropriate size, shape, resolution or aspect ratio, alleviating the need to maintain heavy, expensive publishing tools on desktops.

For the IT administrator: Stellent Digital Asset Management provides Web-based administrative functions and a flexible architectural framework to meet the needs of your organization with one solution. Web-based administrative functions include the ability to easily stop and start servers, edit security permissions, customize metadata, create workflows and view server logs, regardless of your location. The Stellent solution is Java-based, easily customizable, rapidly deployable, enterprise scalable and can integrate with other processes and applications, such as portals, CRM and ERP systems. Stellent’s architectural framework supports automated image conversions so that multiple renditions of files can be stored together in a single repository. This flexible framework enables administrators to set up an inbound refinery to generate all required renditions of an image immediately upon check-in and then manage the files together, allowing the user to select the versions they need.
Robust Functionality Enables Effective Digital Asset Management

Stellent Digital Asset Management automates routine tasks and provides robust functionality to effectively manage your rich media files.

Which attributes (for example, version, authorisation, publication and expiry date, META information) can be assigned to individual components or sites?
Stellent® Content Server contains a couple attributes and metadata right after the installation. This includes information about access rights, versioning, the author, security classification, document/content type the release and the expiration date.
All attributes always belong to a single peace of content, which can be a single document, a page, a part of a single page, an email, a multi media asset or a template.
Administrators can easily define new metadata (as text fields, dates, numeric or as (drop down) lists)

To which extent are templates used?
Most contents in Stellent® Content Server are stored as native files, which are created or changed with the original application like e.g. MS Word or Adobe Photoshop or others.
In the context of the Web Content Management application module, Stellent stores the web contents as XML documents, which are processed with an XML editor.
These contents are displayed in websites as HTML, which is dynamically created through Stellents conversion technology.

Is there an integrated search function for the website?
The Stellent Content Server comes with a fully integrated full text search engine (Verity K2).
That means that all content items can be indexed immediately upon check-in, resulting in quick and easy retrieval with full-text and metadata searches.

This full text search capabilities are available in both the work environment of the contributors as well the web site.

Is there the possibility to automatically generate sitemaps and index sites?
The Web Content Managament module comes with tools for creating template based websites. These templates uses so called fragments to adress the reuse of typical web site elements like navigation, sitemaps, index pages, ToCs or search pages).

The scope of delivery of the Web Content Management module includes a number of navigation and sitemap fragments as well as other typical web site elements.

Is there an automatic link verification with a corresponding correction?
Yes, an automatic link verification is done automtically in Stellent.

With Stellent Site Studios template based approach fully linked web sites can be created. Dead (site)internal links are not possible, external link availability can be checked periodically. In the case of non availability these links can be removed from the page.

Can you define dynamic categories on websites, in which further relevant links are indicated?
Yes, dynamic categories with links to to further relevant contents can be defined.

Contents are related (automatically or manually) to each other through metadata.
With so called fragments (used to realize the reuse of typical web site elements) links to these related contents are created and displayed.
With the Web Content Management module Stellent delivers a couple samples of such fragments. This includes samples for "Related Content" areas in web pages.
