Is there an open API as programming interface? Yes, the system is extendable with plugins. The interface is XML-RPC or SOAP. This means, extensions can be written in every XML-RPC compatible language (Java, Perl, ASP, ...) see also www.xml-rpc.com.
Additionally the system is delivered with the source code and we provide developer trainings in which we introduce extension concepts and interfaces. How can templates functionally be extended through a script language? With PHP, since the system is written in PHP. Therefor access to all environmant variables and API functions is available.
