TIMETOWEB Content Management System

 Are the individual components of the website administrated in a file system or in a database? If database, is it a system-owned database or can also other database systems be used? All components of the TIMETOWEB CMS are stored within one Lotus Notes database. A connection with other Notes or ODBC databases is possible too, due to the data sourc technology without some application development to be done. Is there an integrated media database for pictures, among others? There is a central resources depository for images and other files. The image import is provided with some convenient features like scaling of pictures to a definied size. Which attributes (for example, version, authorisation, publication and expiry date, META information) can be assigned to individual components or sites? A lot of attributes are managed for every document by the application (e.g. edit history, approval information, version numbers, comments etc.). In order to optimize the search engine performance, meta data for every document or alternative texts for images should be entered. To which extent are templates used? The templates in TIMETOWEB allow the creation of HTML code with all technical possibilities. CSS classes and Java script can be seperetely be entered in the provided fields. The application is delivered including completed templates, which can be modified with basic HTML knowledge. Is there an integrated search function for the website? Full-text Boolean search including the embedded file attachments Is there the possibility to automatically generate sitemaps and index sites? All the elements at a TIMETOWEB website are automatically and dynamically created Is there an automatic link verification with a corresponding correction? The application ensures the correctness of internal links. External links can be checked with an additional tool. Can you define dynamic categories on websites, in which further relevant links are indicated? Yes, there are different possibilities to display content related or relevant links automatically.
For every document a context navigation can be provided, with links to documents from any area of the website structure. Another way is to display unstructured data by category (news, events, items) in a overview. Is it possible to design a generally valid navigation, which is adapted to the context? Yes, the complete navigation structure is generated automatically at real time out of content, considering the context (intra-/internet, language etc.) and the access rights of the website visitor. Is there an integrated version backup? TIMETOWEB allows a comfortable and clearly arranged management of all versions of a document.
The previous version of a document is stored as an archive automatically by creating a new version, e.g. in order to retrieve past changes.
The state of a document is apparent at first view: draft, waiting for approval, recent, archived. Can a version backup be implemented through additional software? No additional software ist required, version management is a part of the basic CMS version. Can earlier versions of the website or individual components be reestablished and if yes, to which extent? Yes, without limitation: You can store as much as desired archive versions of a document, they are available unless manually deleted. So, you can retrieve any status and set back some parts or the whole processing very fast. Is there an integrated template editor? Templates can be modified by a authorized user with basic HTML knowledge. Can external editors be integrated? If yes which? Authors can write texts as usual with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint etc. and take them over including the formating in the CMS. Is there an object-oriented authoring? Yes, TIMETOWEB enables object-oriented authoring, i.e. a central dispository of frequently used content. Documents can be displayed in overviews using categories - without limitation where / how often. Can multilingual contents be administrated? Yes, without limitation of the number of languages within a website. Chinese websites can even be developed, due to Unicode support. Are multilingual clients available? Zhe user interface of the TIMETOWEB CMS is available as standard in English and German. A extension to other languages can be done without changes in the database design. With which techniques can an editor transfer contents to the system? Entry and formating within the Notes-Client, copy & paste from any source (incl. formating), ASCII import, MS-Word (optional), Mail (optional) Which possibilities are there for editors to work on contents? For content entry and maintenance TIMETOWEB offers predefined document types (e.g. rich text, overview pages, etc.) and documents (e.g. news, items etc.). Therefore the user must only enter the required content into the appropriate document type or document. The preview function allows the author to check at every time the progress of his entries and changes. Depending on the user rights, rich text field are provided, which allow to format freely using pictures, tables, etc. within just one single template.
