With immediate effect, customers of the chemistry and life science company Carl Roth will be able to browse an animated version of their over 1,300 page print catalogue online under http://blaetterkatalog.carlroth.de. This has been made possible by the so-called flip catalogue: a new animation technology enables interested customers to browse the online version of the Carl Roth print catalogue with their mouse, whereby the image of the flip catalogue exactly matches the printed edition as the original PDF data of the print version will be used.
Customers, who so far have only used the printed catalogue, will in future find the entire Carl Roth range in its familiar purchasing environment also on the internet. The user will be able to save and print relevant pages and product pages can be easily found again by using the practical bookmark function in form of coloured notepads. Any required catalogue page can be directly entered into a search field. In addition, users can go straight to the required chapter via links in the directory. Apart from that, the customer is given the option of choosing between various catalogue views: miniature view, double page view as well as an enlarged view of individual pages are available. Once the interested customer has found the required product in the flip catalogue, he just clicks on the article number and gets directly to the online shop, where he can use all shopping basket functionalities and place his order comfortably online.
The Essen based company communicode has been responsible for realizing the Carl Roth flip catalogue. Based on the existing PDF data of the print version, communicode produced the flash flip catalogue for Carl Roth by using the current flip catalogue software of the Düsseldorf technology partner Cominto. Through an automated process, product links contained in the PDF catalogue are automatically recognized and liked to the online shop via the use of hyperlinks.
