ClearStory Systems(TM), provider of enterprise content management (ECM) solutions, announced the release of Radiant Enterprise Media Server (EMS), a next-generation media services platform that provides core functionality for managing the full range of enterprise content, from rich media to documents. Radiant EMS provides a foundation for developing solutions such as digital asset management, video management, document management, and marketing content management.

The release of Radiant Enterprise Media Server represents a major step forward in the evolution of ECM. Built on a J2EE, service-oriented architecture (SOA), EMS offers a modern, flexible and efficient platform for integrating enterprise content -- business documents, rich media, graphics and other digital content -- into business workflows, processes and applications. The first release of the product offers specialized functionality specific to managing rich media content, building on the company's deep experience and proven digital asset management expertise.

"Radiant Enterprise Media Server is the result of a significant R&D investment over the past three years and a dedication to industry leading technology," said Henry F. Nelson, ClearStory president and CEO. "Our experience working with customers across a broad range of industries has shaped the development of a platform that embodies ECM best practices. This next-generation system is ideal for the dynamic requirements of enterprises seeking solutions for their growing content."

A modern enterprise content management strategy demands technology with a global perspective and capabilities, including multilingual capability, distributed repositories, and massive scalability. Radiant EMS is designed to squarely meet the needs of enterprise content management, taking into account both the evolution of digital asset management features as well as operational needs for system integration, collaboration, and business process management. EMS also provides powerful tools and frameworks for rapid user interface assembly and vertical application deployment.

Today's IT environments have evolved into application "ecologies" based on open standards and Web services where diverse applications must cooperate and exchange data, with an integrated user experience. Radiant EMS is designed as an integration platform, combined with a robust feature set, for a cost-effective "rich-media aware" content management solution. Important features include:

* Media integration management: Radiant EMS is built to support hundreds of file types, and its open framework readily supports new and evolving graphics, multimedia, and business document standards.

* Comprehensive API: Radiant EMS offers developers great flexibility in the design and implementation of media-centric applications. Through a robust set of APIs, users can easily integrate EMS into any enterprise workflow.

* Enterprise security: EMS provides precise control over content so sensitive materials can be distributed appropriately. The asset-level security model can easily be administered to manage privilege inheritance and access control.

* High volume data migration: EMS includes multiple ingestion options for large volumes of content, and improves time and accuracy of migrating content into new applications. Capabilities include drop-folders, in-place cataloging, and "drag and drop" upload.

EMS is at the core of the Radiant Content Suite, which provides management and on-demand access for the full range of enterprise content. ClearStory Systems will be releasing additional applications running on the EMS platform in early 2005, building on the platform's ability to readily deliver custom applications for ECM and DAM-related business solutions. The new solutions will be available either as installed software or as a fully hosted ASP service.

The Radiant Enterprise Media Server platform is certified for the BEA WebLogic and JBoss application servers and on the Oracle 9i database. The platform and software development kit is shipping today. EMS can be deployed as a stand-alone product or can be incorporated as part of a comprehensive, enterprise-wide content management strategy.
