Open Text(TM) Corporation, provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software, said its user conference, LinkUp Phoenix 2004, was its largest and most successful ever, presenting a unique opportunity to demonstrate its continued success in integrating new technologies from acquired companies such as IXOS, Gauss and Artesia, as well as its Vista Plus(R) product suite.
About 1100 attendees, including senior executives, systems integrators and industry experts, attended this year's event. Open Text used the expanded forum to present its integrated product roadmap, including e-mail management solutions that combine Open Text's search and records management software with IXOS' e-mail archiving technology. Open Text also demonstrated its ability to deliver flexible storage options by integrating Livelink solutions with IXOS' content repository. Livelink customers benefit from a choice of multiple storage vendors, including Hitachi Data Systems, Network Appliance, StorageTek, EMC, Hewlett-Packard and others. Open Text also revealed plans for new BPM and production document management solutions to come over the next few months, which further integrate Open Text, IXOS and Gauss technologies.
Open Text also announced its Livelink ECM Services Architecture, which is designed to help smooth the evolution of existing applications and speed the development of new ones. Built entirely in Java with native support for SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol)-based Web Services, the platform provides a layer of software "services" that link corporate applications to repositories of information, no matter where they reside. Open Text introduced the first of these services, called Livelink Touchpoint, a contextual collaboration environment that enhances person-to-person interaction.
"The message from our customers at LinkUp was clear: ECM is mission-critical," said Open Text Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Tom Jenkins. "That's why so many customers from some of the largest organizations in the world came to LinkUp to hear about our technology plans. We demonstrated powerful new solutions and integrations, and a technology roadmap for new capabilities that far surpass what customers will see from any other vendor."
Open Text opened the event by presenting its GlobalStar Awards for ECM Leadership which recognizes successful customer and partner solutions. The top awards were presented to Vision Service Plan and the Ministry of Agriculture, Helicon Opleidingen, the Netherlands. Deloitte and Kofax also received GlobalStar Awards for their partnerships with Open Text to deliver joint solutions for customers.
Jenkins gave the keynote address at the conference on the future of ECM, and Chief Technology Officer David Glazer and Senior Vice President of Research and Development Hartmut Schaper presented the company's technology strategy and integrated product roadmap. The event also included more than 100 breakout sessions, and the Winning Solutions Pavilion, which featured product demonstrations from Open Text and partners such as SAP, Deloitte, Hitachi Data Systems(R), Adobe, Network Appliance, Kofax, Ricoh, Informative Graphics and Hewlett-Packard.
