In response to the developing Enterprise Content Management issues facing organisations, Butler Group is hosting "Enterprise Content Management: Information Costs, Value and Compliance," a two-day conference and exhibition 2 -3 March 2005 in London. Attendees will gain insight from analysts, vendor case studies and peers on dealing with the issues of deploying, managing and exploiting ECM.

According to Butler Group, ECM covers a broad set of capabilities. It is important that organisations understand and plan their content management requirements carefully prior to deployment.

Some of the components that may be required for a particular solution include Document and Records Management, Web Content Management, collaboration, e-mail management, and Digital Asset Management. The analysts say it is unlikely that all these will be deployed in parallel, and they must be considered within the context of business processes. It is therefore useful to consider the different patterns of content-related processes, to identify the priorities that will make a real difference to information costs and information value, whilst ensuring compliance with legislation and regulations.

Butler Group believes that listening to the experiences of other users and exchanging views is highly beneficial. This can save a considerable amount of time that would otherwise be spent on overcoming some of the elementary hurdles. It is also important to compare the approaches of different vendors, and hear the views of experienced ECM practitioners.

Butler Group's Enterprise Content Management Symposium will present the opportunity to draw upon extensive analyst experience and industry leading opinion in this area. The event follows on from the success of many other Butler Group Symposia regarded as the de facto Northern European platform for both end-user and vendors to participate in a themed technology debate.

Martin Butler, Founder and President of Butler Group, will open the two-day event by presenting his candid views on Enterprise Content Management and will be joined by Tim Jennings, Butler Group's Research Director, to provide delegates with an open view on the Enterprise Content Management vendors, how the market is likely to mature and who the winners and losers will be in the longer term.

Platinum Sponsors will provide case studies to help delegates understand how technology can be used to aid Enterprise Content Management. Together with other leading vendors, the sponsors will help delegates understand how they might plan a strategy for Enterprise Content Management.

More powerful than a conference and more valuable than an exhibition, Butler Group's Symposium format is designed to provide delegates with a thorough understanding of Enterprise Content Management, a shortlist of vendors to talk to, and a clear Butler Group best practice plan for such an implementation. This is delivered through:

* Keynote Presentations: Martin Butler, Tim Jennings and senior representatives from the Platinum Sponsor organisations will provide a valuable insight into the issues surrounding Enterprise Content Management.

* Case Studies: Platinum sponsor, Open Text and Gold Sponsors, EMC Documentum, FileNet, Fujitsu Software and Stellent and Silver Sponsor, Unilog will introduce end-user clients, who will help to demonstrate how Enterprise Content Management (ECM) technologies assist in implementing a relevant strategy.

* Application Labs: Platinum and Gold Sponsors, Open Text, EMC Documentum, FileNet, Fujitsu Software, and Stellent will host Application Labs to showcase their individual technologies through presentations and hands-on demonstrations.

* Exhibition: Platinum, Gold and Silver Sponsors will be joined by a number of additional vendors with a complete understanding of the major vendors in this arena.

* Forum Debates: On Day One, join Martin Butler and other Butler Group Senior Analysts for our Butler Group Forum Debate, ‘Measuring Information Value and Productivity’. On Day Two Martin Butler, will be joined by Tim Jennings and representatives from both Platinum sponsors for an Open Forum Debate, where they will consider ‘Can ECM curb the rising costs of Information’.

* One-to-one Meetings: Our One To One Meeting Request scheme allows delegates to meet with participating vendors and Butler Group Analysts face to face on a one to one basis and get direct advice on specific needs.

This Symposium is designed to be a community for both IT and business executives meet Butler Group's experts and leading solution vendors.

29.11.2004, Butler Group
