Factiva®, a Dow Jones and Reuters Company, announced an agreement with The New York Times Company to make the full-text archive of The New York Times dating back to June 1, 1980, available to all Factiva customers in North America. Customers will have access to the archive beginning on January 1, 2005. Previously, the full archive beyond 90 days was only available to customers outside of North America.

With this announcement, Factiva becomes the only global news and business information provider to offer customers complete access to the full-text of all top ten daily newspapers in the U.S. Most of them are available online at the start of the business day.

“Factiva is committed to providing our customers the most complete access to the world’s best content,” says Simon Alterman, vice president of Content at Factiva. “This agreement is an important milestone in our partnership with The New York Times Company and will deliver our customers unparalleled access to 25 years of critical news and editorial commentary from one of the world’s leading information sources.”

During 2004, Factiva has also expanded long-term agreements with the Tribune Company (publisher of the Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, New York’s Newsday and Spanish-language Hoy) and The Washington Post. In addition, USA TODAY is also now available to customers at the start of the U.S. business day. Factiva is also the only service that offers complete access to the Dow Jones and Reuters newswires and The Wall Street Journal.

“The New York Times, like Factiva, is committed to being a source of unrivaled news and information,” said Martin Nisenholtz, CEO, New York Times Digital. “We are pleased to be able to extend our agreement in order to offer their customers the most complete digital access to our publication.”
