bofrost*, the European market leader in direct sales of frozen food and ice cream, is migrating its existing e-commerce system to Intershop's latest Enfinity Suite 6 software, first unveiled at CeBIT 2004. The solution will run on the open source SUSE LINUX operating system, according to today's announcement by the two companies. bofrost* has chosen Intershop's transaction-based pricing model for this upgrade project. Implementation will be handled by Dortmund-based GETIT GmbH.
By offering an exceptionally varied range, a straightforward, user-friendly system, and efficient, reliable fulfillment, bofrost* aims to maximize customer potential and boost retention of existing online shoppers. Intershop's Enfinity Suite 6 was found to be the most compelling technological solution for realizing this customer-focused strategy.
"The transaction-based pricing model we introduced in April 2004 is designed to make it easier for our customers to begin trading online or to upgrade to the latest version of Enfinity," explains Ralf Männlein, the member of Intershop's Executive Management Board responsible for sales and marketing. "High initial investment costs can deter potential customers from implementing e-commerce projects. By offering alternative pricing based on online transactions, we can help our customers to move ahead with investment in e-commerce activities."
A redesigned version of the bofrost* online sales channel went live only recently, in March 2004, courtesy of Intershop partner GETIT. Here the emphasis was on intuitive navigation and tailoring the site to the target group, with GETIT also developing a special color scheme that incorporated the company's corporate design. A special section providing nutritional advice and a recommendation of the week were also added.
The e-commerce system powered by Intershop Enfinity is fully automated via a robust XML interface that distributes all customer, catalog, control, and order data between store and data warehouse.
