EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, Dec. 20, 2004 — Stellent, Inc. (Nasdaq: STEL), a global provider of content management solutions, announced today it received a “Positive” rating in Gartner, Inc.’s Dec. 10, 2004 report titled “MarketScope: Compliance Management Software, 2H04.”1* Gartner (NYSE: IT and ITB) is the leading provider of research and analysis on the global information technology industry.

“We are pleased to be distinguished with a ‘positive’ rating in Gartner’s recent compliance report and also listed in the ‘leader’ quadrant of Gartner’s recent Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management2,” said Robert Olson, president and chief executive officer for Stellent. “Many companies across a variety of industries, including manufacturing, health care and financial services, have used our core Stellent® Universal Content Management system to facilitate efficient compliance processes. Additionally, our Stellent Sarbanes-Oxley Solution continues to be in high demand among public companies needing a system that can quickly help them streamline and manage their compliance activities.”

In the MarketScope report, Gartner assesses vendors on the product or products they provide to support the compliance management process. Because there are many components to this process, vendors’ applications for compliance management -- including internal controls monitoring, testing and documentation -- are evaluated within the context of other products and services that they offer to support the breadth of the compliance management process. Gartner further assessed vendors’ compliance management offerings based on technical sufficiency, technical functionality, vendor viability, market strategy and pricing. According to Gartner, a “Positive” rating means a vendor demonstrates strength in specific areas but is largely opportunistic. Existing customers of that vendor are advised to continue incremental investments; potential customers of those vendors are advised to put them on a shortlist of tactical alternatives.
