JBoss, Inc. Adds New Technical Features to Federated Open Source Projects
JBoss(R), Inc. announced several key technical features among its federated open source projects. The product releases and updates in January attest to the company's focus on driving technical innovation in Java middleware and support the build out of the JBoss Enterprise Middleware System (JEMS) into a comprehensive open source architecture that gives end users greater flexibility and technology choice.

JBoss will be showcasing JEMS and its federation of open source projects at the company's upcoming user conference, JBoss World 2005, which will take place at the Omni/CNN Center in Atlanta, Ga., March 1-2, 2005. Sessions will be delivered by members of the JBoss community, including customers, partners and JBoss architects and developers. Releases and updates for JBoss projects in January 2005 include:
* JBoss Portal 2.0 Alpha: JBoss Portal 2.0 will offer an integrated framework for building, deploying and maintaining flexible and scalable enterprise portals. With a final release expected later in 2005, this JBoss Portal Alpha release provides an initial portal framework, content management system, forum portlet and single-sign on support. * JBoss AOP 1.1: JBoss AOP is an aspect-oriented framework and prepackaged set of aspects designed to simplify development by providing enterprise services (for caching, transactions, security, remoting, etc.) to object-oriented plain old Java objects (POJOs) via annotations, pointcut expressions or dynamically at runtime. This new release includes a variety of enhancements including new aspects and improved integration with JBoss Eclipse IDE. * JBoss Eclipse IDE 1.5 Alpha: JBoss Eclipse IDE extends Eclipse with a series of plug-ins that enable programmers to develop, deploy, test and debug their JEMS-based applications within the Eclipse IDE. With a final release expected later in 2005, this JBoss Eclipse IDE Alpha release provides new features that simplify AOP, EJB3, Hibernate and JBoss jBPM application development. Specifically, this release features a new AOP Pointcut wizard, a port of the popular Hibernate Console, as well as various wizards that ease EJB3 and Hibernate development. Further, this release offers a first look at the new JBoss jBPM Process Designer, which provides a graphical process archive editor with join, fork and path bending capabilities. * JBoss Remoting 1.0.1 Beta: JBoss Remoting is a JBoss technology that provides a single, simple API for most network-based invocations and related services. Specifically, it provides the ability to make synchronous and asynchronous remote calls, push and pull callbacks and automatic discovery of remoting servers using pluggable transports and data marshallers.
