Vignette Corp. announced that Texas State University-San Marcos, the largest campus in the Texas State University System, and the sixth-largest campus in the state, has implemented key components of the Vignette(R) V7 product family, including Vignette(R) Content Management, Vignette(R) Application Portal, Vignette(R) Builder and Vignette(R) Business Integration Studio to better help current students, faculty and alumni access a range of information from the academic calendar to the human resources department to the parents and alumni association. The result is a more-informed and connected ecosystem of people interested in the university.

With more than 26,000 students and 660 faculty members, Texas State University plans to use Vignette's solutions to help nontechnical content owners across the university quickly and easily update information relative to their specific departments, while allowing the university to maintain a unified brand presence. In addition, Texas State University has plans to leverage Vignette to create a user-centric Web presence, enabling any site visitor, including students, faculty and alumni, to efficiently find the information they want.

Texas State sought an easy-to-use information management and delivery solution that could integrate with its current information technology investments. Thanks to the Vignette solution's scalability and flexibility, the university will be able to consolidate the development and maintenance of its Web properties while personalizing and enhancing communication for targeted audiences.

"The breadth of technology solutions made Vignette the natural choice during Texas State's evaluation and selection process," said Dr. Milton Nielsen, director of Instructional Technologies at Texas State University-San Marcos. "Vignette's solutions allow us to aggregate an enormous amount of information from many existing data stores, and then manage and deliver it effectively so that site visitors can find exactly what they are looking for in a consistent online presence."

While Texas State will initially use Vignette solutions to power the university's main Web site, http://www.txstate.edu, as well as the Web sites of its departments, the university intends to eventually build a new framework that will encourage information sharing.

"Texas State University clearly sees the business value of a tightly integrated content management and portal deployment, which only Vignette can uniquely provide," said Chuck Neal, senior vice president of worldwide sales and distribution at Vignette. "Vignette solutions help higher-education clients deliver a more-relevant and personalized experience to students, faculty and alumni."

A partial list of Vignette's high-profile customers in the education market includes Arizona State University; Ball State University; Carnegie Mellon University; Education Testing Service; Pepperdine University; University of California, San Diego; University of California, Los Angeles; University of Michigan; Texas A&M University; and the University of Southern Mississippi.
