RedDot Solutions, a leading global provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions, announced a new version of its Web Content Management System, RedDot CMS 6.1. The latest version offers several new features designed to make complex Web projects easier to administer, faster to implement, and simpler to test against diverse standards.
Among the many new features, RedDot CMS 6.1 includes drag-and-drop functionality, enhanced editing tools, preview options and comparison templates for improved version control.
Previewed earlier this week by leading content management experts, RedDot CMS 6.1 is already receiving widespread recognition in validating RedDot’s presence as an ECM leader. “Corporate Webmasters may not realize how strong an enterprise content manager RedDot has become,” said Mike Heck, a contributing editor for InfoWorld magazine. “RedDot CMS 6.1 provides strong proof with even easier content editing, more options to publish different site versions, and compliance with accessibility regulations. Version 6.1’s new functions, plus major changes in CMS 6.0 for managing assets and workflow, make this content manager a worthy solution for public sites, internets, and extranets."
RedDot CMS 6.1 features include:

* SmartDrop - allows content contributors to drag and drop text or images files directly onto the page, eliminating the need to manually open files and copy their contents. Users simply drag images, documents, text and spreadsheet files from the desktop or Windows Explorer right onto the SmartDrop square in RedDot SmartEdit.

* DirectEdit (also called inline editing) - allows Web site content contributors and editors to edit text directly on the Web page, removing the need of a text editor. Content can now be edited in the SmartEdit preview mode without opening a secondary text editor window.

* Permanent Preview - provides real-time site previews. With the Permanent Preview, users can now instantly see changes made to their Web pages using any of RedDot’s editing techniques.

* Template Versioning - allows administrators to more easily structure versions of a Web page. Site administrators can now create several versions of a template, and store them in a version-controlled facility within RedDot CMS. Administrators can compare the different template versions to see all differences, highlighting sections where code has been added and “red lining” where it has been removed.

"Web content management is quickly moving to the forefront of today’s business imperatives, and our customers regularly cite ease-of-use as an imperative feature of the solutions they choose," said Detlef Kamps, president of RedDot Solutions. "We've added new functionalities designed to make our core product even easier to use, eliminating many manual tasks."
Late this spring, RedDot plans to release a new add-on module to RedDot CMS, the Web Compliance Manager, to ensure compliance with Section 508 and WCAG A, AA and AAA standards.
