New strategic features make Hyper.Net easier to use than ever before, across the world and in all languages

Coextant Systems announces the availability of Hyper.Net R4.7, the newest release of its Enterprise Content Integration and Transformation technology. The release is intended not only to make Hyper.Net solutions faster to develop, implement and easier to administer, but also to provide support for creating enterprise solutions that must simultaneously manage content in multiple languages across multiple technologies.

Hyper.Net enables organizations to tie authoring tools and content stores to relational databases and portals without direct integration, making it possible to automatically populate consumer-optimized web sites and employee portals with document-based content. Hyper.Net’s primary power is derived from transforming Microsoft Office and other documents stored in document managers into XML-based relational data released in Microsoft SQL, IBM DB/2 or Domino databases.

The new release includes numerous new strategic features that help organizations post Microsoft Office content on the web as true web content:

1.Enhanced support for Office 2003 functions integrated with a powerful XML parser that increases transformation speed, output accuracy and support for

- all double-byte character sets and far-east languages like Chinese and Japanese, with all content stored in Unicode format.

- multi-layer Word drawing objects, nested tables, floating objects, shapes, text boxes etc.,

- review / tracking changes and comments to the document,

- creation of footnote and endnote popups, glossary definition hyperlinks, graphic hotspot links and bookmark links.

- dynamic glossary lookups - making it possible to maintain centralized definitions of corporate terminology and automatically link to this information from terms found in published content

- using custom-defined XML schemas created in Office as input

2. A new and powerful collection of web parts for Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server that make it possible to quickly pull content published with Hyper.Net into a SharePoint Portal solution using standard drag-and-drop techniques

3. A new logging and tracing facility that allows authors to identify corrupted documents and fix problems without administrator assistance

4. Support for multiple simultaneous content output databases

Leveraging customer feedback collected during the last 2 years, Coextant has also equipped Hyper.Net with improved tools for creating and administering solutions:

1. Support for multiple content databases has been added to the Hyper.Net Framework API, making it possible to simultaneously render content coming from multiple Hyper.Net data stores

2. A re-designed, browser-based centralized administration console for managing all Hyper.Net configuration settings, including a new browser-based configuration tool that makes maintenance of metadata value mappings easier

“Hyper.Net 4.7 takes content integration and transformation to the next level,” states Coextant Systems CEO Paul Caspers. Hyper.Net now provides the foundation required to implement complex, Microsoft Office-based, multi-lingual solutions that must span the globe."

24.03.2005, Paul Caspers, Coextant Systems International AG
