OmniBus Systems announced the release of OPUS Content Management, a fully integrated suite of content management and workflow components that provides the task-based tools broadcasters of all sizes need to realize the value of their media assets.

The OPUS suite, fully integrated with the OmniBus Colossus automation system and driven by OmniBus Systems' award-winning G3 technology, ensures efficient ingest, review, annotation, and storage management of content, with on-demand delivery to automation for accurate on-air transmission.

"A broadcaster's most valuable asset is the content it owns. We designed OPUS to optimize the content management process, allowing the broadcaster to leverage this asset to its fullest potential," said John Wadle, vice president of technology at OmniBus Systems. "Built on more than a decade of OmniBus' experience in creating innovative broadcast automation solutions, OPUS brings the versatility of IT-based workflows to broadcast content management."

Key components of OPUS include OPUS.MediaFramework, which provides the content management infrastructure and database; OPUS.Logging for annotation of content and key frames with associated metadata; OPUS.PinPoint for content selection via basic and advanced metadata searching; OPUS.View for content proxy viewing and key frame selection; OPUS.Index for metadata analysis and text indexing; and OPUS.MediaFlow for transfer and transcoding of content among storage, archive, and playout devices.

For integration with adjacent planning and operations systems within the facility, or with enterprise-wide digital asset management systems, OPUS.Interchange provides the exchange of new content orders, content inventory, full content metadata, broadcast schedules, and as-run logs via IT-standard Web services integration.

These powerful components combine to provide content management solutions customized for each operation via the OPUS.Workflow process manager. OPUS processes are presented via the OmniBus G3 Desktop, providing operators with task-based layouts designed to include only the required displays and controls.

"OPUS is unique in incorporating key elements of content management such as broadcast device control, proxy management and viewing, content and key frame annotation, and metadata exchange with adjacent systems -- all in one integrated product suite," continued Wadle. "Together these capabilities deliver unprecedented control over content processes for maximum efficiency in production and delivery."

Individual OPUS components can be implemented separately or in combination to provide a scalable and affordable content management solution tailored to the budget and operations of each facility.
