CoreMedia, the provider of trusted digital rights management (DRM), tested successfully among the first comprehensive OMA Test Fest for DRM 2.0 implementations for handsets, consumer electronics, PCs, and Servers held in Helsinki last week. The OMA DRM 2.0 standard allows operators and content providers to use new distribution models such as Superdistribution to explore the opportunities of viral marketing. In addition OMA DRM 2.0 facilitates the converging mobile and PC market.

CoreMedia already offers Multi-DRM, the combination of different DRM technologies for the benefit of interoperability with OMA DRM 1.0/2.0 and Windows Media DRM between handsets and PCs.

To date there are 250 handset models on the global market that support the common standard OMA DRM. Each month 20 more new handsets are introduced.

"This commitment to open standards and interoperability is a success for the global telecommunication market. We are very confident that OMA DRM is enabling tremendous revenue opportunities for operators", says Dr. Willms Buhse, Director Products & Marketing.

CoreMedia DRM has taken the lead in the mobile DRM technology industry for 3G service delivery platforms. CoreMedia DRM-enabled services for premium content such as music and video clips have already been successfully launched in Africa, Asia-Pacific and across Europe.
