Saba, provider of human capital management (HCM) solutions, introduced Saba Content Management, a second generation learning content management system (LCMS) designed for enterprise-wide content development and delivery. Built on Saba's new services-oriented architecture, Saba Content Management offers a unique approach to helping organizations solve their most critical learning content management issues. Unlike traditional LCMS solutions, Saba Content Management enables content development and delivery across the extended enterprise, supports multiple authoring tools, and provides deep integration into Saba Enterprise 2005, the company's next generation HCM platform. As a result, customers can scale development and management of their learning content as their organizations grow.

Overburdened with vast quantities and forms of content, and facing growing pressures to produce learning materials better and faster, large companies are challenged to develop and manage content effectively across the organization. As a result, many are creating custom content that mines the distributed knowledge throughout the organization, effectively transforming their efforts from "training" programs into knowledge management initiatives.

"As global adoption of e-learning grows, traditional training and human capital management programs are undergoing a shift within large enterprises," said Bobby Yazdani, chairman and CEO of Saba. "Organizations which once relied on systems designed to manage face-to-face training now require platforms to support the development, delivery and management of e-learning and other digital assets. Saba Content Management is expressly built to meet the evolving enterprise content needs of our global customers."

Key Features in Saba Content Management

Saba Content Management helps organizations capture, manage and reuse content developed and stored in the many silos across an organization. Key features of Saba Content Management include:

Enterprise-wide Architecture, Built to Grow as Organizations Grow - For large enterprises that are creating, delivering and managing sizable volumes of content to a high number of users across multiple geographies, traditional LCMS systems are not enough. Saba Content Management is architected as an enterprise-wide asset, so customers can scale their use with limited risk of system overload. Additionally, Content Contributor Interface provides unique tools to extend the content development process to any user across the organization, regardless of technical abilities.

Support for Multiple Authoring Tools - Saba has adopted a unique approach to authoring based on integration with third-party authoring tools, enabling users to transform stand-alone authoring tools into full-fledged LCMS systems. In contrast to traditional LCMSs, which require users to learn a new, built-in authoring tool, Saba Content Management allows authors to continue using the tools they know, improving user satisfaction and adoption. Organizations with Saba Content Management leverage investments in existing authoring tools, increasing overall return on investment.

Tight Integration with Saba Enterprise 2005 - Unveiled earlier this year, Saba Enterprise 2005 is a next generation HCM solution that integrates learning, performance and talent management in one solution, to unify the strategic people processes of large organizations. With tight integration into Saba Enterprise 2005, Saba Content Management provides instant access to knowledge for users across the comprehensive HCM suite. Customers also minimize the content-system interoperability risks and administrative costs associated with managing point LCMS and HCM systems.
