Factiva®, a Dow Jones and Reuters Company, announced the availability of Factiva Portal Services, a customizable set of Web Parts enhanced with world-class Factiva content, enabling IT managers to seamlessly integrate compelling business intelligence into Microsoft® Office SharePoint® Portal Server 2003.

Countrywide® Financial Corporation’s Market Knowledge Group recently selected Factiva Portal Services and SharePoint Portal Server 2003 to enhance the company’s one-stop resource of knowledge and insight for senior management, strategic planners, research analysts, and other key decision makers. The group is working with Factiva Consulting Services group to integrate Factiva Portal Services into its News Dashboard.

"By coupling Factiva content with SharePoint Portal Server’s advanced features, our employees now have a more robust set of productivity and usability features, including custom views, alerts, and custom commentary. Factiva Portal Services Web Parts supplement the interface with visualization of Factiva content and taxonomy, allowing our users to quickly understand the impact of news and issues,” says Atul A. Patel, assistant vice president for knowledge operations of the company's Market Knowledge Group.

Factiva Portal Services consists of several Web Parts that are compatible with SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and are designed especially to meet the information needs of executives, and sales and marketing professionals. These role-specific views highlight the key tasks of the job function and integrate the latest news and information where needed. Using graphs and charts, the Web Parts provide a visual snapshot of major news events and issues, as well as integrate news feeds from Factiva’s collection of more than 9,000 authoritative sources. Factiva Consulting Services can customize this experience through their subject matter expertise of delivering information into Microsoft Office SharePoint.

"There’s no doubt that executives and sales and marketing professionals are among the most time-pressed individuals in the workplace. They require good quality information to be effective in their roles, but the high volume of information available makes it difficult to quickly access the right information. Factiva Portal Services combined with SharePoint Portal Server 2003 anticipates the needs and tasks of these users, streamlining access to relevant information,” said Clare Hart, president and CEO of Factiva.

"With their new Web Part for Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003, Factiva has developed an innovative and easy way that people can find and understand information critical to business decisions. Business news and content can be quickly assessed and used,” says Chris Capossela, corporate vice president, information worker product management, Microsoft. "This allows information workers to spend less time looking for data and more time on analysis, collaboration, and looking for insights that will help them do their jobs more effectively.”
