Open Text, provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software, has announced that Siemens AG will significantly expand its Open Text Livelink ECM content archiving capabilities to create a globally accessible central archive that will improve information access, significantly lower operations expenses and increase process efficiency.

Over the last few years, Siemens has been using the Livelink ECM archiving capabilities for certain business sectors successfully. According to Kenneth Lindstroem, Vice President and CIO, Applications, at Siemens, the consolidation of remote archives to the Open Text system will accelerate processes, while reducing operational and IT costs. Positive experiences with the archiving capabilities and Open Text's other Livelink ECM Solutions, were reasons Siemens chose to expand the archiving system across the entire corporation. Open Text's archiving capabilities, part of its service-oriented architecture-based Livelink ECM Platform, will ensure the ability to easily evolve the solution to meet changing IT requirements.

"Compliance issues require companies to integrate the management of all content across the enterprise," said John Kirkham, Executive Vice President of Sales at Open Text. "We are delighted that an innovative customer such as Siemens has chosen to use our Livelink ECM archiving capabilities in all sectors of the company. The solution integrates seamlessly into the existing IT infrastructure and provides a central place for the management of critical information from ECM, ERP, CRM and other systems.

"Livelink ECM will give Siemens a way to safely store all business documents in a highly scalable document repository that's built for the long-term. Simple, configurable views and hierarchies in the system's Web-based interface will give Siemens' employees easy access to centrally stored information, without the need for time-consuming training."

Siemens' solution will also include capabilities for managing and archiving Siemens' email; and content from Microsoft SharePoint. Open Text's Livelink ECM for SAP(R) solutions is also included in the new system to give users working in SAP solutions access to content in the archive.
