Innovation and Internationalization

The software company CoreMedia has completed the 2004/2005 financial year with a record turnover of almost €15 million. This represents an increase in revenue of more than 30% over the previous year. The completed financial year is the most successful since the company was founded in 1996. CoreMedia has now completed seven successive quarters of profitability, and has increased operational results to well above 10%.

In the previous financial year, as well as in the current one, CoreMedia has followed a course of internationalization and expansion. In addition to the headquarters in Hamburg, the company now has offices in Great Britain, Norway, Singapore and the USA. By the end of 2005, the number of employees is planned to increase from 130 to 150. "The widespread recognition that we've won from the industry globally in recent months has really motivated our team to outperform”, said Sören Stamer, founder and CEO of CoreMedia AG. "In just a few months, we won many new and strategically significant clients in Europe and Asia, as well as in North and South America. So our portfolio of clients is now highly internationalized.”

Globally at the lead with innovative products

In the previous financial year, Vodafone selected CoreMedia’s innovative mobile digital rights management system, CoreMedia DRM. The large mobile communications provider, chose CoreMedia for the content services of the Vodafone live! platforms globally. Today CoreMedia is the global leader for mobile DRM technology on UMTS/3G platforms. Premium content services for downloading music, videos, ring tones and images with CoreMedia’s DRM protection are already being offered in Japan, the Asia-Pacific region, Africa and almost everywhere in Europe.

The new version of CoreMedia’s strategic content technology, CoreMedia CMS 2005, was introduced at this year’s CeBIT in Hanover, Germany. In addition, existing client relationships were strengthened and expanded. Deutsche Bahn, for example, set up a company-wide intranet portal, www.db.de, using CoreMedia CMS. T-Com, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom and one of Europe’s biggest fixed-network providers, implemented its entire sales information system on the basis on CoreMedia CMS.

Within the German federal government’s "BundOnline 2005” program, CoreMedia CMS is the recommended CMS standard software. The IT infrastructure for over 20 ministries and bureaus, as well as all 137 of Germany’s embassies, is now based on CoreMedia’s technology.

International recognition

CoreMedia gained international recognition in the previous financial year by winning a number of international awards. Deloitte, the auditing firm, added CoreMedia to its Fast 50 list, recognizing it as one of the fastest-growing software companies in Germany, and to the top 25 of the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 EMEA, the ranking of the 500 fastest-growing technology companies in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The renowned US business magazine, Red Herring, awarded CoreMedia with a Red Herring 100 Europe Award, recognizing it was one of the 100 most innovative unlisted companies in Europe and Israel.

Sustainable growth

The company is continuing to follow its course for growth in the current financial year. Important impulses for this are coming from the Asian market, as well as the USA.

"Our sustainable growth is founded on our ability to develop first-class, innovative software. This has enabled us to become, in just ten years, an established player in the high-end CMS market, and the global leader in the mobile DRM area. We’re going to be working to strengthen our leading position even further. In this, our aim is clearly focused on Asia and the USA,” explained Sören Stamer.
