The Swiss canton of Freiburg has published its new, official information portal for its citizenry online with the help of the CONTENS Content Management System. The site is offered in two languages and provides complete information regarding public authorities, thereby making communication between citizens and public officers much easier. Freiburg is now the third Swiss canton to successfully operate its entire online content based on CONTENS technology.

The Swiss canton of Freiburg (www.fr.ch) has launched its official online information portal for its citizens based on the Content Management Platform CONTENS. Multiple pre-existing websites were integrated together to form the new site. In step with the motto present on the front page, "Live together!", Freiburg intends to employ the site to close the gaps between its citizens. With the introduction of CONTENS, local leaders in Freiburg have made possible the quick and simple creation of future websites for the region, and have contributed to the increased transparency of state-wide activity.

The user friendly presentation on the new online offering is oriented according to the most important topics of everyday life, making it possible for even inexperienced Internet users to find their way around the site without a problem. The clear structure and fast production of the page allows users to find whatever they are looking for on the site and to get their work done faster.

With the introduction of CONTENS in the canton of Freiburg, there is now a clearly defined expiration of publication, which permits employees to directly update information, according to their user rights. Editors can now publish content considerably faster because they no longer have to worry about the way the content will appear on the site. This is taken care of by templates that are centrally pre-designed, enabling uniform design changes at minimal effort.

For the bilingual canton, which speaks primarily French and German, quick and reliable site administration of multi-lingual online content is especially important. Intelligent and time-tested language functions in CONTENS enable editors to produce new content or another page in another language with just a mouse click. This makes keeping the consistency of multiple sites in check easy.

The Swiss Premium Partner New Impact AG (www.newimpact.com) conceptualized the new portal and acted as the general contractor in close cooperation with CONTENS‘ partner InfoTeam S.A. in Freiburg.
