Implementation of the extranet-based Global Electronic Manual (GEM) for efficient transfer of risk assessment know-how in 35 countries

Revios Rückversicherung AG, one of the world’s leading life reinsurance companies, is to relaunch its comprehensive extranet application, Global Electronic Manual (GEM), on the basis of CoreMedia CMS. The Revios Group, which evolved from the life reinsurance businesses of the Gerling reinsurance group, is one of the eight largest reinsurance companies in the world, and provides products and services to clients in 35 countries.

GEM is Revios’ comprehensive extranet-based life underwriting manual. GEM offers a wide range of medical and non-medical information for the assessment of life risks differentiated and adapted to regional market conditions. Clients from around the world have around-the-clock access to the GEM database, providing them with risk assessment tools for a range of life insurance products. In addition to medical information, it supports clients in assessing risk based on profession, sport activities and international travel.

The GEM user interface is designed for easy navigation and a maximum of flexibility. Updates, structural changes, maintenance and user-client administration can be carried out centrally - from the company’s headquarters in Cologne, Germany - and also by authorized staff members in any of the company’s subsidiaries worldwide.

"The Global Electronic Manual (GEM) is an integral part of our daily work and that of our clients. We chose CoreMedia CMS to make the utilization of the online database more stable and efficient.” said Dr. Jörg Apfelbach, head of the Risk and Actuarial Assessment department at Revios Cologne.

CoreMedia CMS content technology is being implemented by TietoEnator, an IT service provider.

"Content Management has become an essential element of many central business processes,” explained Sören Stamer, founder and CEO of CoreMedia. "Especially for insurance companies, efficient and speedy administration of information - insurance risks, for example - is decisive for business success.”
