DATEV implements empolis search technologies
DATEV eG, software and IT service provider for accountants, auditors, attorneys and their clients, has committed to implement empolis software.
The empolis solution e:Information Access Suite Enterprise Search is currently successfully in use with DATEV’s LEXinform database. In use since 1975, this database delivers more than
438,000 documents with information relevant to tax laws and civil regulations, as well as economic information. Based on the newly developed search technology, users easily find relevant court decisions and jurisdiction, legal texts, literature or comments pertaining to court cases.
The newest LEXinform version 3.0 provides the user with "free text search". The search entry is not bound to specific logic, such as with traditional search engines. Search criteria can be entire sentences or text passages that are copied into the search form, containing any aspect of a question.
The program evaluates and classifies all documents in LEXinform according to their meaning and the described circumstances. The results are presented and assorted according to relevance in a hit list. Further relevant documents are directly located right out of a hit list by clicking onto "similar documents”. The "free text search” is available for all access methods (on DVD, data processing center or via internet).
The LEXinform users are already feeling the benefits of additional capabilities provided by the new search technologies. empolis’ search technology is currently being implemented for the DATEV intranet, internet and the internal service tool.
The integrated functionalities for full text, structured and associative searches, and the scalable infrastructure enabling searches in distributed data sources independent of platform or language, were clearly decisive factors in favor of empolis. Many of DATEV’s requirements could be fulfilled by a single empolis software solution. empolis’ professional support also played an important role.
