McAfee, Inc., provider of Intrusion Prevention and Security Risk Management Solutions, and Secure Computing Corporation, the experts in securing connections between people, applications, and networks(TM), announced that the McAfee(R) Secure Internet Gateway (SIG) and Secure Web Gateway (SWG) Appliances will use Secure Computing's SmartFilter(R) for Web filtering. The addition of the award-winning SmartFilter technology and database provides an added layer of security protection to the McAfee Secure Content Management (SCM) Appliances, allowing administrators to block access to Web sites associated with malicious code, phishing, spyware and other online threats. McAfee will sell the integrated product directly and through its network of resellers.

"SmartFilter is a world-class Web filtering solution that provides our customers with an important extra layer of Web filtering protection," said Vincent Rossi, senior vice president of product marketing and product management, McAfee, Inc. "Secure Computing's SmartFilter seamlessly integrates onto our platform. With SmartFilter's customizable database distributed across 69 categories, our customers can easily control and manage access to Web content."

Optimized for McAfee's SCM Appliances, SmartFilter provides outstanding performance and reduces latency better than other, more distributed architectures. SmartFilter enables organizations to provide appropriate control over outbound Web access. The technology is currently in use by thousands of organizations to safeguard work environments from offensive content, limit legal liability, and protect against security risks such as spyware, viruses and malicious code that can enter networks when employees use the Internet. SmartFilter is also a prime choice for K-12 schools and libraries, protecting students from inappropriate or illegal Internet content, while enabling compliance with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA).

"We are pleased to be partnering with an industry leader like McAfee," said Chris Peterson, vice president, OEM and channel sales for Secure Computing. "We believe the addition of SmartFilter to the McAfee SIG and SWG appliances is a great enhancement to an already strong product line provided by McAfee. The addition of SmartFilter's Web filtering and security protections to this world-class product will benefit McAfee's customers."

The McAfee Secure Content Management family of appliances provides complete Web and e-mail security for both enterprises and small and medium businesses (SMB). Their best-in-class, high-performance platforms deliver protection against spyware, inappropriate Web content, phishing, spam, known viruses, worms and Trojans. The comprehensive protection eliminates the need for multiple point products, lowers total cost of ownership, and since the solutions are appliance-based, they are easily installed and virtually maintenance free.
