Captiva Introduces Input Management Console for System Performance Monitoring

Captiva Software Corporation, provider of input management solutions, announced the introduction of Input Management Console(TM) (IMC), a solution that provides proactive system monitoring, diagnostics and incident reporting from an administrative console.
IMC actively monitors the operational performance of Captiva's input management solutions and can be extended to monitor enterprise content management (ECM) systems. IMC also serves as a diagnostic resource, capable of identifying system and application processing errors or anomalies, providing the time and nature of such occurrences and offering insight into overall performance.
"By providing a noninvasive, real-time view into technical and business services, IMC gives IT and business managers the ability to monitor the health of their input management and ECM systems, understand the underlying issues that impact their operations and proactively eliminate potential problems that can hinder day-to-day throughput," said Jim Vickers, Captiva's Chief Marketing Officer. "IMC helps companies reduce the amount of IT resources required to administer and maintain these critical systems. By identifying operating errors in real time and providing the right information to relevant personnel, IMC shifts monitoring activities from unmanaged troubleshooting to a more proactive and focused problem-resolution approach."
When application errors or other anomalies occur, IMC can notify support personnel via pagers and email, and provides concise information via a web browser. Using a set of predefined rules, IMC can also automatically take corrective action by restarting or reinitializing a service, process or module. Since IMC uses a wizard-based configuration manager, it is quick to deploy and provides a return on investment (ROI) in just weeks.
"IMC further differentiates and strengthens Captiva's position in the input management market, and creates many new add-on sale opportunities for our solutions," added Vickers. "In addition, since IMC is complementary to ECM monitoring and reporting solutions, it can be sold separately for use with Documentum 5, IBM Content Manager, FileNet P8 and many software products."
