Latest version 3.1 of the FIRSTspirit with package management and high-availability support:

At this year's SYSTEMS in Munich the Dortmund software house, The e-spirit Company GmbH, is represented in Hall A2, booth 118. Supported by the two e-Spirit partners, ARITHNEA and HLP Informationsmanagement, the SAP Enterprise Portal integration, maintenance of high-quality Intranets and the functions of the current FIRSTspirit 3.1 release will be particularly showcased. In addition to live demos and presentations selected customer projects - for instance the project at EADS - will be introduced.

Seamless integration in the SAP Enterprise Portal:

At Systems, together with partner HLP Informationsmanagement GmbH, e-Spirit will present the SAP EP Business Package for FIRSTspirit that ensures optimal integration of Content Management and portal technology; this will be the first time it has presented to a broad public. Online editors will also work professionally in their FIRSTspirit editorial environment in the future, without the necessity of SAP skills for creating and displaying new navigation structures, including having to set up roles and permissions in the SAP Enterprise Portal. Logging into the portal once (Single-Sign-On) suffices for immediate access to all relevant applications - including FIRSTspirit.

The new SAP EP Business Package for FIRSTspirit also enables automatic and unlimited content management with automatic updating in the background - thanks to XML, content is media-neutral, hyperlink capable, and it can be personalized. Content is subject to the SAP Enterprise Portal permissions concept and can also be multilingual.

Thorsten Heid, CEO from HLP, the IT specialist based in Eschborn Germany commented: "The desire for professional online editorial work within the framework of the SAP Enterprise Portal has been getting louder for quite some time. Jointly with e-Spirit we have developed a solution, which for both sides - the SAP Enterprise Portal users, and the enterprise's online editors - is not only passable, but highly convenient".

The assessment of the portal manufacturer's specialists was also quite positive: "The certified integration of FIRSTspirit in the SAP Enterprise Portal has succeeded in a manner that is very powerful. In particular, complete transparency is provided for the user - a seamless transition relative to navigation, look, and content. To this point we have not seen any integration within the SAP Enterprise Portal that is deeper than that which has been integrated with the SAP EP Business Package for FIRSTspirit."

Convenient, state-of-the-art content management - the EADS example:

The Munich consulting company, ARITHNEA, will show the technologically highly developed possibilities of FIRSTspirit, using the Intranets of various areas within the EADS Group as examples. EADS, a leading global aerospace provider implements FIRSTspirit at group headquarters as Content Management System for managing and creating web-based content. The interesting features that will be presented at SYSTEMS include the development of generic templates, professional database integration, automatic workflows for optimizing editorial maintenance, as well as an alphabetically sorted keyword search.

FIRSTspirit 3.1 with Content Pooling:

In addition to the enterprise projects in the EADS example, e-Spirit will also show further extensions of the new 3.1 version of the FIRSTspirit integration platform. The new package management makes it possible for FIRSTspirit content objects - such as content and media - to be collected in so-called packages and prepared for subscription or import in various target projects. Such target projects could be an enterprise's various Internet sites, for example. The advantage of this intelligent functionality: Content objects can be created and managed at a central point in the respective master project.

12.10.2005, Marc Kleine, e-Spirit Company GmbH
