McAfee, Inc. Launches Online Configurator for Secure Content Management Appliances
McAfee(R) partners, customers and prospects now have access to an online configuration tool for recommending the most appropriate anti-virus and secure content management solution for their environments.
McAfee's MAX Configurator, developed by License Technologies Group, reduces the sales cycle of McAfee products by helping partners and customers determine the best solutions for their environments through intuitive point-and-click options on the MAX Configurator site. Solution providers can configure and price customized Secure Content Management (SCM) appliances that meet the specific needs of their customers, including all of the required software and optional support programs. They can then print the recommendation for each configuration, including products and prices, or e-mail it to the appropriate decision-makers.
"Publishers in the security arena are under increasing pressure to develop products to combat the innumerable security threats their customers face. Consequently, they're outsourcing the development of eBusiness portals to LTG. They know we have the expertise in building these tools, and they can dedicate their developers 100 percent to new products," said Tom Blade, LTG's chief technologist. Blade's staff managed the entire project and worked with McAfee to establish and program a complex set of business rules into the site.

The MAX Configurator recommends products based on McAfee's suggested selling tips for migrating existing appliance customers to the new McAfee Secure Web Gateway (SWG), Secure Internet Gateway (SIG) and Secure Messaging Gateway (SMG) appliances, and for determining the most appropriate appliance for companies seeking an SCM solution.
The Configurator, located in the partner section of the McAfee public site, drills down to multiple levels of detail following a complex set of business rules that include pricing and products for specific market segments, such as corporate, government, education and health. Users can create customized configurations based on a series of questions built into the site or by selecting specific products grouped into categories. While the primary purpose of the MAX Configurator is to build a proper product configuration, it can also be used for quotation purposes and looking up SKUs and list prices.
