KnowledgeLake Enables Comprehensive ECM Suite for Microsoft Office "12"

KnowledgeLake, Inc., provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software for Microsoft SharePoint, announced that its next major product release will extend the substantial new ECM feature set in the upcoming Microsoft Office release, code named Office "12". Office "12's" ECM platform will strengthen KnowledgeLake's current Office 2003 offering, whose success has allowed KnowledgeLake to double revenue numbers for two consecutive years. The new product set will be available for general release in mid 2006.
KnowledgeLake has been working closely with Microsoft for several months under non-disclosure to ensure that its upcoming products will complement the enhanced Office 12 feature set. KnowledgeLake is the only Gold Certified Microsoft ISV (Independent Software Vendor) Partner to fully utilize Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies as the core document repository. Microsoft's new Office 12 Server will provide a robust server platform with core features such as records management, workflow, and content archiving. KnowledgeLake products are specifically designed to add application functionality to the Microsoft Office 12 platform and to have a product set that competes directly with the legacy players in the ECM industry.
"By design, Microsoft builds the core platform, and partners build the solutions," said Bob Bueltmann, Vice President of Sales for KnowledgeLake. "We already have a rich ECM solution built on Office 2003. Our document imaging, COLD (report capture), and workflow apps allow us to compete in traditional ECM verticals such as accounts payable, Insurance, Financial Services, and Government. With Office "12", the opportunity for Microsoft-based ECM only gets better."
Microsoft's announcement of new platform technologies such as the Windows Workflow Foundation (WWF), XML Paper Specification (XPS), and support for Official Documents (records management) now allows KnowledgeLake to focus on bringing these platform functions together in a natural user workspace that supports various forms of content capture. KnowledgeLake Capture currently brings robust scanning functionality to the desktop and tightly integrates with Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies. The next version planned for concurrent release with Office 12 will bring dramatic increases in functionality and support for new document formats. This along with greatly enhanced workflow functionality based on WWF is the primary focus of the next product release.
"Document image enabled workflow processes are by far the most typical, easiest to implement, and highest ROI applications in the ECM space," says Ron Cameron, Chief Architect for KnowledgeLake. "We at KnowledgeLake are excited about partnering with Microsoft to finally bring a robust, affordable, and safe ECM solution to everyone, not just the Fortune 1000."
KnowledgeLake executives have decades of extensive experience building and deploying ECM solutions. "Over the years, we've seen far too many customers left with defunct software after a smaller vendor disappeared," said Chuck Nash, Vice President of Business Development for KnowledgeLake. "Many of our customers have millions of mission critical documents, we know that their future is safe with Microsoft and that any other vendor decision just adds risk. We are confident that our customers' documents are safest when they are stored in a Microsoft SharePoint server."
"KnowledgeLake is a strategic Microsoft partner because of its success in the area of document imaging and workflow. We are depending on partners to fill in the gaps left in the Office 12 product set in this area." said Sanjay Manchanda, Director of SharePoint Products and Technologies at Microsoft. 26.10.2005, KnowledgeLake Inc.
