Bed Designer Auping Relies on Intershop
Auping was looking for a software product that would enable standardization of multiple online channels and processes, centralized management, and significant IT cost savings. Intershop was the obvious partner choice based on its technical know-how and longtime experience in demanding e-commerce projects. "Auping selected an Intershop product because it sets benchmarks in terms of stability, performance, and customer friendliness. Our continuing relationship will create the right conditions to secure the ongoing success of Auping's e-commerce platform," says Henk Eertink, CFO at Auping. Auping's trailblazing role in the Dutch furniture industry is not limited to e-commerce: In 1888, the company's founder, Johannes Auping, invented the innerspring mattress. Today, the company has a number of divisions and sales partners all over the world. Now, it is taking advantage of the Internet as an extra sales and presentation platform. The virtual shop system consists of three areas: A business-to-business section for profiled furniture dealers, a direct-order option for retail customers, consumer website. A web based catalog system lets Auping continually update the system with the latest product information. Throughout the solution, the emphasis is on providing efficient features to best meet the goal of "putting together, viewing and ordering a sleeping environment." A wide variety of materials, textiles and processing - including mosquito netting - is available to choose from. The product configurator is the central tool for selecting individual components, step-by-step. Home users may place their custom beds in the electronic shopping cart for delivery by Auping within a few weeks. Auping uses the Internet to integrate a variety of distribution channels, including dealers, consumer website and retail in a centralized system. Certified Auping dealers have their own system access through www.AupingWeb.nl and may use it to provide their customers with detailed information. In the consumer website customers can use the mouse to virtually test various combinations. 30.11.2005, Intershop Communications AG
