Vignette Corp. unveiled Vignette(R) Collaboration release 7.0, the latest version of its leading enterprise collaboration product that helps manage organizational processes and critical business functions by bridging information silos to create the de facto place where people work.
Collaboration is a strategic goal of organizations due to its ability to solve several key business challenges, including faster time to market, consistent and efficient business execution, and increase service through its ability to capture and search intellectual capital. Vignette Collaboration provides organizations with the ability to exploit the power of the "extended enterprise" by empowering employees, customers and partners to work together in a dynamic information network that has no visible seams between internal and external resources.
Rob Kelley, a partner at systems integrator and technology consultancy LiquidHub, notes that, "Vignette Collaboration release 7.0 is a comprehensive evolution of the product and has now become an all-encompassing collaboration system. The product's new interface makes it simple for any user to be productive, and the tighter integration with the other Vignette products makes it easier to find and use vital information quickly. LiquidHub believes that organizations interested in a knowledge management or collaboration solution should take a hard look at Vignette Collaboration release 7.0."
Vignette Collaboration brings synchronous and asynchronous collaboration together in one easy to use interface. The enhanced interface helps users quickly create and find the information needed to make informed decisions and increase productivity. In addition, Vignette Collaboration includes packaged integration with the Instant Messaging server Microsoft Live Communications Server for enhanced synchronous communications.
Vignette Collaboration gives users the ability to easily create their own custom workspaces. These tailored workspaces help organizations to address collaboration challenges through user configuration instead of complex coding. The ability to tailor fit collaboration functionality to business challenges is superior to the industry.
"Interest in and adoption of collaboration tools and technologies is high as firms look for ways to improve market share, revenue, profitability and cash flow by streamlining business processes and better managing complex processes," noted Erica Rugullies of Forrester Research in Trends of 2005: Collaboration, December 2004. "It is important to note that firms are looking to reduce the number of tools being used for collaboration and creating a situation where multiple disparate tools are in place. The type of environment impedes user productivity and adds to IT's burden."
"Organizations are again investing in knowledge management as workforces continue to expand geographically and talent bases become more distributed. The addition of Vignette Collaboration release 7.0 provides new and existing customers a comprehensive and fully integrated solution upon which to build their knowledge management applications," said Conleth O'Connell, chief technology officer at Vignette. "Vignette has a long-standing tradition of delivering solutions that address an organizations key business pains, and Vignette Collaboration release 7.0's user-friendly and highly flexible environment is another testament to this commitment."
Organizations are again investing in knowledge management as the workforce continues to expand its talent base and age range across the globe. The enhanced product's internationalization enables organizations to display, store, and search content authored in any Unicode supported language simultaneously, including Eastern European and Asian languages (e.g. Russian, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Simplified or Traditional Chinese and more).
When applied to the extended enterprise, coordination, efficiency and synergy create immense value, enabling more effective use of the enterprise's resources. This can lead to cost savings, revenue generation, risk reduction and improved customer relationships. Enterprise collaboration serves as a foundation for all knowledge, tying together unstructured and structured information in an environment where people work together, learn from each other and integrate from the larger enterprise.
