Hyland Software Releases OnBase 5.0

Hyland Software, Inc., announced the public release of OnBase 5.0®, the latest version of the company's flagship Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software suite. OnBase 5.0 features new collaboration and e-mail archiving functionality, significant enhancements to its core electronic document management capabilities, as well as new vertical applications specifically tailored for healthcare providers and financial services institutions.
"OnBase 5.0 represents our ongoing commitment to build a complete-and completely integrated-suite of ECM applications," said A.J. Hyland, president and chief executive officer of Hyland Software. "The new modules and enhancements to our core capabilities are designed to address priority issues facing businesses and government agencies today, including giving knowledge workers practical, easy-to-use tools to control costs and sustain regulatory compliance without undermining their ability to create ongoing value for their customers and constituents."
"Honda Finance Europe is reassured by the fact that, as the business climate changes on a seemingly daily basis, OnBase is adapting to these changes in a timely fashion," said Michael Brown, Business Analyst at Honda Finance Europe, an OnBase customer. "OnBase 5.0 confirms that Honda Finance Europe has purchased an enterprise document management solution that is continually evolving to meet business needs in an innovative and creative manner."
Collaboration and E-Mail Archiving Enhance Productivity, Add Muscle to Governance, Risk and Compliance Framework
OnBase 5.0 now provides collaborative workspaces that employees can create to collectively work on documents, including handling exceptions issues in a given workflow process. These collaborative interactions can be stored as part of an audit trail of decision making to support compliance strategies.
The addition of the OnBase E-mail Archive, which works in conjunction with Microsoft® Exchange Journaling functionality to capture and store all inbound and outbound e-mails, complements OnBase's existing records management capabilities and bolsters the ability of organizations to use OnBase as a framework for governance, risk and compliance initiatives.
An Integrated Approach to ECM
"Business demands undoubtedly require a range of formerly separate content management capabilities, but the whole must be more than the sum of its parts," said AMR Research Director Jim Murphy in the July 2005 AMR Research report, The New Enterprise Content Management Imperative: Advancing Your Top Six Business Initiatives. "Companies need a unified way to create and maintain a single, reliable source of the truth for information, no matter what the destination, format, or delivery mechanism."
"Many competing ECM platforms largely consist of acquired and loosely coupled point solutions," said Miguel Zubizarreta, chief technology officer at Hyland Software. "In contrast, OnBase is a true suite of applications, combining document imaging, electronic document management, COLD/ERM, workflow, records management -- and now collaboration and e-mail archiving -- in a single application."
"This level of integration lowers total cost of ownership through rapid deployment and end-user adoption, reduced IT administrative overhead and minimal professional services as users adapt OnBase to meet changing business needs."
More than 5,300 organizations around the world use OnBase on a daily basis to create efficiencies and derive greater value from document-centric transaction processes, such as accounts payable, claims processing, mortgage lending, patient records management, permit processing, treasury management and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. 20.12.2005, Hyland Software, Inc.
