Zope Corporation Releases Zope Version 3.2
Zope Corporation, publishers of Zope, the leading Open Source Web application server announce the concurrent release and general availability today of Zope Version 3.2 and Version 2.9.
"Our company has been using Zope 2 technology for 5 years ow, to build enterprise content management solutions for governments and corporate customers. Thanks to the work on Zope 2.9 and 3.2, we will benefit from the clean component model of Zope 3 while maintaining compatibility with our current product line," says Stefane Fermigier, CEO of Nuxeo, Paris-based Zope development company.
"We are thrilled with the Zope 3 platform. Two of our large customer projects - one for the U.S. Department of Defense and one for the Commonwealth of Virginia - are succeeding specifically because they are leveraging capabilities in the Zope 3 platform," said Rob Page, CEO of Zope Corporation.
The Release marks the transition to a predictable time-based release schedule and the integration of the Twisted framework into the Zope application server. According to Stephan Richter, one of the premier (or 'most active') Zope 3 developers, "Both of the standard servers, HTTP and FTP may now be used via twisted. The integration of the Twisted framework allows us to use SSL natively, implement schedulers and more easily integrate new network protocols."
"Many new packages that were developed for commercial projects were added into the release. For one, a programmable test browser was added that allows us to simulate the user experience in a functional test," said Richter.
"We are very excited with Zope 3.2 since it is now ready for enterprise class web application development. Zope 3.2 includes Japanese language files and it is Japanese-capable out-of-the-box.
