The Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) has chosen CoreMedia’s DRM IOP Test Server for use by participants in its Test Fest events held around the world. This new comprehensive DRM IOP Test Server is an invaluable resource for vendors and operators to check their end-to-end conformance and product viability in use with OMA Enablers.

With the CoreMedia IOP Test Server, OMA members and non-members, including handset and component manufacturers can confirm that their models, applications or services are interoperable using the OMA specifications.

For the OMA "DRM IOP Test Server” CoreMedia focused on automated tests to maximize the level of interoperability testing that can be conducted by vendors prior to attending an official OMA Test Fest. OMA Test Fests are events at which a wide range of mobile industry companies gather to test products and solutions and verify that they work with each other in a trusted testing environment.

"Being selected by the OMA for its Test Servers further strengthens CoreMedia’s leading role in interoperable DRM,” states Dr. Willms Buhse, Director Product & Marketing CoreMedia. "It is all about interoperability and convergence in order to create a trusted universe for premium content.”

"OMA Test Fests are designed to reduce the commercial barrier to entry and maximize potential for adoption of mobile products and services,” comments Jari Alvinen, Chairman of the Board of OMA. "With the new CoreMedia DRM IOP Test Server, we enable our members and industry players to test the OMA DRM Enabler and build a more interoperable mobile network based on open standards.”

Interoperability is crucial in a standards-driven industry. Client manufacturers (e.g. handset device vendors or media player vendors) currently invest substantially in implementing OMA DRM functionality in their products. CoreMedia DRM IOP Test Server enables client manufacturers from across the globe to continuously test their products against the world’s most deployed DRM server.

The CoreMedia DRM platform sets the benchmark in interoperability worldwide. Driven by internal and external interoperability testing experience, CoreMedia DRM IOP Test Server provides the fastest route to the deployment of client side DRM components, reducing production costs and time to market. "Already three out of the top-5 handset manufacturers worldwide are using the CoreMedia DRM Test Server,” continued Dr. Buhse. "With CoreMedia, the highest quality products available match the requirements for deploying powerful 3G/UMTS services.”
A flexible test solution ready-to-use

Developing DRM clients according to the OMA DRM standard requires a flexible solution for creating and maintaining test cases and test content, as well as a real-life DRM server for the test execution. The CoreMedia DRM IOP Test Server provides a complete DRM environment for testing devices against the CoreMedia DRM 2005 ROAP Server, according to the current OMA DRM 2.0 standard.
