After one year of development, Nuxeo delivers the new release of its Enterprise Content Management platform, consolidating its leadership in the open source ECM market. This major release puts strong emphasis on scalability, performances, usability and high-level features.
Building on its previous successes, Nuxeo takes a strong presence within the short list of top Enterprise Content Management solutions, currently dominated by proprietary software vendors. Thanks to its innovative and integrated approach of ECM, CPS has become a serious alternative to proprietary solutions in the markets of large industry and government agencies. For this reason CPS, is the open source solution recommended by leading IT integrators specialized in Document Management and ECM: Euriware, Unilog and Capgemini.
Founded on a flexible and robust component architecture, CPS, through its integrated approach, enables organizations to implement global ECM solutions definitely focusing their investment on specific business needs. It results generally in about 50% cut of integration costs and specific developments, added to the no-license savings.
CPS is the concrete translation of Nuxeo's vision of ECM solutions. Nuxeo is all about helping organizations to iteratively build, trough components assembly, a global information management infrastructure, answering new business constraints that they need to face. CPS can easily adapt to face new business challenges like compliance, information volume to process, business process management, team collaboration, user acceptance of technology solutions. Thus CPS pushes enterprise content management towards a more flexible, integrated and unified reality.
"Enterprise Content Management as experienced by traditional proprietary vendors reached its limits. Our clients need their document management solutions, collaboration platforms and web content management systems to be integrated and flexible. Moreover, they need to enable them to exchange content and communicate in a unified way with the rest of the information system," explains Eric Barroca, Chief Operating Officer of Nuxeo. "User acceptance of information management applications has become central. The efficiency of these systems is now conditioned by the participation of the organization's staff members. It's time to offer users a pleasant and productive experience that still respects business rules, of course. This isn't impossible. ECM hasn't to be highly expensive and user unfriendly."
Within this picture, release 3.4 of CPS introduces a huge set of improvements, for users and CTO, answering Nuxeo's customers' needs and enabling large scale deployment:
- Technical infrastructure: more flexibility, global coherence, web-services enabled, componentized architecture, etc.
- Scalability and performances: improved performances and scalability, thanks to numerous optimizations on all levels.
- Features: user interface and usability overhaul, AJAX for a more responsive user interface, drag and drop, and a huge load of new features (geospatial information browsing, relationship management, feature-rich shared calendar, mail client totally integrated with content management, blogs, wikis, etc.)
As a fully open source software, CPS is supported by a large community of users and developers. This is of great help to the platform who benefits from serious experience return and various evolutions. Moreover, many modules implemented on client projects are directly integrated into the platform's core. This dramatically reduces maintenance costs for those projects. "We often notice a 30 to 70% reduction in specific developments on client projects realized with CPS, when compared to those realized with our competitor's solutions," says Stefane Fermigier, Founder and CEO of Nuxeo. He adds: "These savings, added to those related to the absence of license costs, make CPS the most interesting offer in the ECM market in terms of return on investment regarding features delivered."
CPS has been chosen by prestigious and major actors of the European industry (Suez, Areva, STMicroelectronics, SNCF, AFP, etc.) and the main French ministries for critical applications and e-government applications. Thus CPS continues its upturn and is now well established as the unavoidable open source ECM platform.
