The German Commission for UNESCO, is to build its Internet portal "Education for Sustainable Development" with CoreMedia CMS. On behalf of the German Commission for UNESCO, the Berlin full service provider for digital communication Aperto AG develops an internet portal representing the home page for "Education for Sustainable Development”. The Internet platform is part of the current United Nations "Decade of Education for Sustainable Development", which has been proposed by the 2002 Johannesburg Summit. The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the decade for the period 2005-2014.

The CoreMedia CMS to be deployed in the platform has been the determining factor for the German UN-Organization choosing Aperto, which succeeded against six competitors. The CoreMedia Content Technology allows the quick and easy integration of partner organizations, which can design their own individual website in line with the UNESCO-project, which is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

The internet-platform supports the organization and communication of the participants of the "Round Table” committed to the decade in Germany. Among the participants are representatives of the German Federal Ministries, the Parliament, the Federal States as well as NGOs, media, private industry and science. A sophisticated seek function will seek the portal’s over 100 websites according to different topics and key words. The partners involved will present projects across all sectors: from pre-school and school to high school and university, research and training on-the-job.

A comprehensive editorial part with current news, interviews, reviews, a calendar and a marketplace for co-operations informs about the activities taking place. The editors of the internet portal benefit from the intuitive handling of the editorial system on the website. The modularized structure of the applied CoreMedia CMS ensures high flexibility and continuity for the content maintenance.

"UNESCO marks another important milestone for CoreMedia. After almost 100 eGovernment projects mainly in Germany we are excited to take our eGovernment offering to the next stage globally” adds Dr. Willms Buhse, Director Products & Marketing CoreMedia.
