Nuxeo, the leader of open source ECM, today announced that the next version of its ECM platform, currently known as "Nuxeo CPS", will be based on open source Java technologies and renamed "Nuxeo 5".

Nuxeo 5, which will be released on November 15, is a complete ECM plaform enabling the management of the full document lifecycle, either in "web client" mode or in "rich client" mode. The Nuxeo 5 platform is the answer to the business process efficiency and compliance needs that western companies are facing today.

"The dynamism and professionalism of the current open source Java ecosystem convinced us of the strategic relevance of our choice", says Stefane Fermigier, President and CEO of Nuxeo. "As an open source software vendor, we ensure the continuity of our product line while adopting the technologies that best enable it to address the needs of our customers and partners".

For Arnaud Lefevre, deputy general manager in charge of business development: "We answer the main request of our system integrator partners, our customers and prospective customers. The use of tested and supported Java technologies makes it possible to better integrate our applications in their information systems, and to better use the competences of their teams".

According to Eric Barroca, deputy general manager in charge of operations: "The new Nuxeo 5 platform benefits from an integrated and innovative vision of ECM, resulting from our 5-year experience working for major accounts in the public administration and in the industry, and is able to address the new market constraints. With the switch to Java we witness an increase of programmer productivity and application robustness and scalability, on all the business-critical projects we are now addressing".

"The availability of Nuxeo 5 in the Java EE environment is to be put in perspective with the upcoming open sourcing of the Java technology", says Eric Mahe, Marketing Director for New Technologies, Sun France. "Sun is delighted by Nuxeo's announcement and by all the synergies which will be created between this vendor and the Java community, especially active in France."

Technical and strategic information concerning the new platform, including a FAQ about the Java switch, have been assembled on the new www.nuxeo.org website, site of the community of the developers and users of the Nuxeo platform. According to the open source development model chosen by Nuxeo, the source code of the platform is already available for third-party developers, and the products will be formally released in the upcoming weeks.

25.09.2006, Nuxeo
