At the SYSTEMS 2006 in Munich (October 23rd-27th 2006) CONTENS Software GmbH presents the latest release of the content management platform CONTENS with a variety of improvements in hall A2, stand 230. With the integration of the document management system (DMS) windream CONTENS additionally shows the efficient cooperation of modern cm and dms technologies.

New active locations, a time-dependent preview, free page-variables as well as archiving of layout-files are among the essential extensions of the current release of CONTENS.

Active locations allow the automatic, criteria-based output of content at defined places on a template and spare the editors much expenditure. Editors can define, for example, whether the most current three press releases or last five job-offers of a category are always automatically published at an active location.

The newly integrated time-dependent preview is used for the simpler pre-production and better overview of content. A filter enables editors to see the page at a certain time. The point of time can be chosen freely or can be selected from a list of set time periods. The filter even remains when shifting between different pages in order to control a whole website at a certain time. The time-dependent preview can be combined with the filters for channels and target groups: how will a page look like for the target group "Partners” in the output channel "PDA" at a certain time.

The newly available free page-variables offer diverse possibilities for the individual creation of page settings. Apart from already existing page settings like keywords, categorization, target groups, output channels or templates, it is now possible to define individual variables in order to meet customer-specific requests even more easier. Further description data can be assimilated, for example, in order to meet metadata standards like Dublin Core. However, also functional variables can be integrated in order to increase the flexibility of the editors. Editors are enabled to alter the design from single-column to multi-column with the help of free page-variables or to change the look of a page through the selection of given stylesheets without having to exchange or change templates.

Archiving of layout-files is also new. In addition to the templates, which influence the look of a website, also the content-layouts, which define the appearance of the content within a template, are archived. That way not only the content of a webpage but also the affiliated stylesheets can be restored at every arbitrary time.

Beside the extensions of the current release, CONTENS presents at the SYSTEM 2006 trade fair the integration of powerful content management technology with the flexible document management system (DMS) windream. Editors can access the content of the DMS through the CONTENS interface and make documents available on a website or in the intranet with only a few clicks. Therefore, an uniform access to all business-relevant documents is possible and redundancies are avoided. With linking on the newest version of a document, always a maximum of timeliness is guaranteed.

CONTENS is pleased to invite interested parties and to welcome them at the CONTENS stand 230 in hall A2 at the SYSTEM in Munich. Please schedule an appointment for a personal presentation under www.contens.de/messe.

06.10.2006, CONTENS Software GmbH, Alexander Friess
