Business Package for FIRSTspirit Integrates Seamlessly with SAP Portal

The Dortmund-based software house The e-Spirit Company will be represented in Hall A2, booth 220, at this year’s SYSTEMS trade show in Munich. Flanked by e-Spirit partners ARITHNEA and HLP Informationsmanagement, the company will be focusing on SAP NetWeaver portal integration, high-grade intranet maintenance, and the features of the current FIRSTspirit 3.1 release. In addition to live demonstrations and presentations, e-Spirit will be introducing selected projects from its clients.

Seamless CMS Integration into the SAP NetWeaver Portal
Together with its partner HLP Informationsmanagement GmbH, e-Spirit will be presenting the benefits of the certified Business Package for FIRSTspirit at SYSTEMS, which enables an optimized integration of content management and portal technology. This allows online editors to work professionally using the FIRSTspirit editing environment, creating and displaying new navigation structures without prior SAP skills, and without establishing any new roles or authorizations in the SAP NetWeaver portal. The single sign-on to the portal is all users need to gain immediate access to all relevant applications, including FIRSTspirit. Editorial work can be carried out directly using the SAP portal—without the need to switch to another user interface.

The Business Package for FIRSTspirit also facilitates automatic and unrestricted content administration with automated background refresh—and thanks to XML, the content is media-independent, hyperlink-enabled, and easily personalized. Content is subject to the SAP NetWeaver Portal authorization concept and can be multilingual.

Thorsten Heid, Managing Director of the SAP NetWeaver specialist HLP in Eschborn, says: "The need for professional online editing within the framework of the SAP NetWeaver Portal has been growing within large and medium-sized businesses. These days more and more of our clients use the Business Package for FIRSTspirit, a package which is accessible to both SAP NetWeaver Portal users and a company’s online editors, in addition to being highly user-friendly and technically mature."

The specialists at the portal architect also draw a very positive balance. They say that the certified integration of FIRSTspirit with the SAP NetWeaver Portal has produced exceptionally effective results, especially in terms of transparency for the user, which is made possible by the seamless transitions between navigation, appearance, and content.

In addition to an easy search function for editorial content, support is now available for cluster installations using the portal's own search engine, TREX. The external facing allows the SAP portal to be used for Web site administration.

ARITHNEA: More than Just Content Management
The Munich-based IT consulting house ARTHNEA will be presenting the advanced technological possibilities of FIRSTspirit at SYSTEMS 2006, using various clients as examples, such as EADS, Sport1, and PlanetHome. Among the new features are concepts for content syndication, content pooling, and the control of advertising materials.

What’s more, ARITHNEA will be introducing the FIRSTspirit module Cache Control. This module ensures that any content changes made in FIRSTspirit are automatically and immediately removed from the global caches of Akamai Technologies. Which means that Web sites are always up to date and free of unnecessary traffic.

And, for training administrators and editors quickly and economically, ARITHNEA now offers FIRSTspirit WBTs (Web-based trainings), which will also be presented at SYSTEMS.

10.10.2006, Marc Kleine
