Mediasurface to Support Microsoft .NET Developers with Morello 5.5

Mediasurface announces the launch of ASP.NET delivery as part of the latest version release of its web content management solution, Morello v5.5. The new version also incorporates a document conversion tool and a Google search appliance plug-in, which will be launched at the Information Management Solutions (IMS) exhibition, part of Online Information 2006, 28-30 November at Olympia, London on stand 442.
The ASP.NET delivery within Morello v5.5 opens up the benefits of Morello to Microsoft developers. Morello v5.5 has been seamlessly integrated with Visual Studio 2005 (part of the ASP. NET suite), offering Morello functionality to .NET developers in a format they are familiar with. This gives them the full capabilities of the industry leading web content management solution .NET, while offering total flexibility as Morello already supports Java Server Pages (JSP) delivery.
Lawrence Flynn, Mediasurface’s CEO explains:
"Version 5.5 marks an important step for Morello as we are now bringing all the benefits of the industry’s leading web content management product to the Microsoft community. Web developers typically have skills in Java with JSP or Microsoft with ASP.NET but until now, few content management solutions were able to support both technologies. With Morello v5.5, the support of both JSP and .NET offers web developers total flexibility and ensures that Morello customers who prefer a particular technology do not have to retrain or hire new skills."
Opening up Morello onto ASP.NET means customers are no longer confined by a development platform. They now have the freedom to build their websites based on their own in-house preferences or availability of skilled developers. Additionally, .NET developers can have access to an existing, pre-built library of web controls whilst utilising a wealth of information and resources available to them within the extensive .NET community.
Furthermore, the new version welcomes the added benefit of document conversion, which means that users can simply drag and drop Word documents into the Morello repository. Not only does this automatically convert these Word documents to web pages, but it also ensures that metadata and other attributes are seamlessly handled by Morello. In a change from other content management software, Morello v5.5 gives users the choice to update the original or converted content directly using the sophisticated editing and management features of Morello.
Morello version 5.5 also introduces the new Google appliance plug-in which will enable organisations to better leverage content across their networks by incorporating Google search into Morello.
Technical enhancements include updates to latest versions on supported platforms:
- Java 1.5 support
- Oracle 10Gr2
- Solaris 10
Morello v5.5 is available from Mediasurface in December 2006. 29.11.2006, Mediasurface
