CM Professionals, the international content management community of practice, announced today that Scott Abel will become its new Executive Director, starting February 9, 2007.

Abel, who currently serves as vice president of CM Pros, and is also a founding member, has been chosen by the Board of Directors to be the next Executive Director. In order to take on this role, Scott will step down from the board one year earlier than his scheduled 2008 date. The official start date for Abel's new position is February 9, 2007, when the new Board of Directors takes over. A one-year board position is now open to replace the open board position.

"I am happy to have been selected to serve as Executive Director of CM Professionals. I am looking forward to the task of focusing attention on the discipline of content management and to highlighting the important roles individual CM Pros members play in the organizations they serve," says Abel. "Expect 2007 to be an exciting year for CM Professionals. We're planning several international events, including our next CM Pros Spring Summit on managing content management projects in San Francisco. We're expanding our offerings into new markets in the EU, Asia and beyond, to provide services and resources of value to our membership."

The position of Executive Director is very important to CM Professionals and its smooth functioning. Erik M. Hartman, President of the CM Pros Board of Directors and Director of Hartman Communicatie points out, "Scott Abel is well-connected in the CM community; he is efficient and well-organized, and has already proved to be a valuable contributor to the organization as our Vice President. As our new Executive Director, Scott will bring a wide range of talents to a pivotal role."
