Efficient content lifecycle management demands cutting-edge technologies and innovative software systems. The empolis:Content Lifecycle Suite (e:CLS) is the editorial system for all areas of content lifecycle management. It covers the entire range of processes (planning, creation of contents and graphics, quality assurance, translation and publication) and management functionalities. One of the fundamental concepts is the reuse of existing contents through modular document structures. Thanks to this, documentation is always current and content creation, updating and translation is perfected.

With the new 3.1 release, numerous customer requirements have been integrated. Benefit from a multitude of functionality improvements and enhancements!

The improvements in summary:

-Work packages for a variety of applications: Make documents or portions thereof available for exchange with external users by compiling them in a ZIP file. The e:CLS configures and provides work packages, either automatically or user-defined, for different areas of application. This allows the delivery of work packages to external authors, who don't have direct access to the system, and the delivery of information modules is always secure and monitored.

The e:CLS version 3.1 also provides configuration options for any project-specific metadata for work packages. Statistical reports can be run on work packages stored in the repository for continual improvement of work processes.

- Enhanced translation support: Translation packages can automatically be generated from the system and can carry any desired metadata for the classification of translation orders. Information such as "name of translation agency", "delivery date", "expected return date", is all possible.

Multiple target languages are supported from a single translation package. In the case where a translation office is responsible for translation into several target languages, this reduces the number of translation packages and processing time.

The generated translation package contains, not only the translation order in XML, but also an HTML page that includes all links to the files to be translated and makes the identification of the supplied information fast and efficient.

- Extended search functionalities: For even faster searches in the central repository, search functionalities were enhanced such that the user can select from pre-configured searches by utilizing a drop-down list. The user can draw from any number of pre-designed search configurations that match his requirements. Should the user need all information relevant for a specific delivery, the pre-defined search "translation - delivery date" can be selected from the drop-down list and only the desired delivery date needs to be entered to receive the required information.

- New structure editor for XML documents: Specifically for the compilation and maintenance of documents composed out of information modules, the new structure editor was integrated in the e:CLS client application. Information objects can be created and maintained with any XML tool.

The compilation of XML modules into a whole document can be handled with the integrated structure editor, always taking the valid XML structure definition into account.

- Hot integration of XML editor tools in their current versions: For direct XML editing, e:CLS 3.1 now has a hot integration of both the Arbortext Editor 5.2 and FrameMaker 7.2. This hot integration allows the user to directly access the e:CLS functionalities through the XML editor application by means of a context menu. The user can edit using the comfort zone of his usual working environment.
