Union of Astoria and XMetaL to Create Powerful, End-to-End Solution for XML Content Authoring and Management for Technical Documentation to the DITA Standard

Driving efficiencies in dynamic publishing, Astoria Software announced its partnership with JustSystems, Inc., a global enterprise software company. Astoria will join JustSystems' Partner Program as a Certified Solution Partner and integrate the two companies' solutions to create a powerful, end-to-end solution for authoring, managing, and publishing XML content to the Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) information standard.

Under the partnership, Astoria will integrate with XMetaL Author, JustSystems' XML-based content creation software, allowing transparent access from the XMetaL interface to feature-rich functions and content stored in Astoria's on-demand XML content management system (CMS).

Today, manufacturers with complex, technology-dependent products face intense market demands for documentation that is timely, relevant, and available in a variety of formats. Global competition is continuously driving companies to deliver more products at a faster rate, without compromising product quality. These forces put tremendous pressure on documentation teams, who are delivering a key component of the end-user experience - the documentation that supports the product.

"By partnering with JustSystems, we can deliver a combined technology advantage that will drive the pain associated with product content into extinction," said Dan Ortega, vice president of marketing for Astoria Software. "Our customers can create and update content with the powerful, proven capabilities of XMetaL, which are accelerated when combined with our industry-leading XML content management solution - content reuse to drive authoring efficiencies and speed time-to-publish, a significant reduction in content management costs, and an immediate improvement in content quality."

Michelle De Hertogh, vice president, business development, for JustSystems Inc, said, "The JustSystems' Partner Program reaffirms our commitment to work in partnership with leading vendors to provide complete content lifecycle solutions and services to customers. As a Certified Solution Partner, Astoria Software demonstrates the level of excellence we look for in our partners, and enables customers to leverage a complete, end-to-end content lifecycle solution across the enterprise."

The partnership announcement highlights Astoria's product direction to integrate its content management solution with the leading XML authoring software used by enterprises for creating and updating content such as product documentation, maintenance, and support information. Astoria currently integrates with PTC Arbortext. The company will announce support for Adobe FrameMaker and MS Word later in 2007.

To learn more about Astoria's partnership with JustSystems, as well as the XMetaL and Astoria Software solution, visit Astoria and JustSystems at booths 103-105 at the 8th Annual Documentation & Training Conference (DocTrainUX), April 18-21, 2007, in Vancouver, BC. Designed for information managers, technical documentation writers, and training and communication professionals, the conference features sessions and workshops focusing on the theme, The User Experience, to help technical communication pros improve the usefulness of the communication deliverables they create. They'll learn how to adapt to the paradigm shift occurring in information creation, management and delivery brought on by new technology.

27.03.2007, Eileen O'Rourke, Astoria Software
