KünzlerBachmann publishing company, based in St. Gallen, Switzerland, has turned the Internet presence of its popular kids and youth magazine,"Spick" into an interactive web portal with the help of the content management system (CMS) from contentXXL. The formerly static website www.spick.net has been redesigned into a modern kids website that combines colours, shapes and site navigation that is suitable for children. With the new website KünzlerBachmann follows the trends of its youth target group in the days of Internet and Web 2.0, creating the perfect balance of print and Internet. The newly designed web presence was done by contentXXL solutions partner, Online Consulting AG from Wil, Switzerland.

With a distribution of 35,000, "Spick" is the most-read children’s and youth magazine in the German speaking part of Switzerland. To better meet the young target group’s demands in the days of the Internet, the publishing company decided to completely redesign its website with the help of a modern content management system. Their goal was to develop an Internet portal that is suitable for children and young adults as well as provide games, riddles and educational tools. The playful website introduces the target group to the contents of the publication and encourages them to take part. Due to easy maintenance of the site with the CMS, KünzlerBachmann will be able to keep the website as up-to-date as possible.

The CMS from contentXXL International GmbH was chosen because of its quick and easy implementation due to the Microsoft .NET framework and more than 50 out-of-the-box components for frequently recurring standard procedures. In the case of "spick.net", modules such as an online forum, survey and rating feature (ranking) contributed to the development of a community platform. Now children and young adults can actively take part in the website’s content and liveliness.
contentXXL solutions partner, Online Consulting AG proved their capabilities with this project, demonstrating great experience with contentXXL from many successful reference projects. They accounted for functional extensions like "interactive e-cards" and "cryptograph coder/decoder" that come with the CMS.

"We are happy to have successfully made the step from a static website to an interactive web portal for spick.net, the online portal for our popular youth magazine, so quickly and easily. The content management system by contentXXL as well as the experience of CMS integrator Online Consulting definitely played a great part in this accomplishment ," explained Urs Haering, Director of KünzlerBachmann publishing company.

"With contentXXL we have an exquisite tool that allows us to develop interactive Internet portals like spick.net", adds Martin Kaiser, Manager of Online Consulting AG. "With the help of this comprehensive and well tested tool and some individual adjustments from our side, a wonderful website for children and young adults was created in very short time."
