Permapack AG builds multilingual Internet presence with Microsoft .NET based CMS contentXXL
Permapack AG, a Swiss supplier of adhesive tapes, self-adhesive labels, packaging films and sealing compounds, has chosen IT service provider, Online Consulting AG from Wil, Switzerland, to create a multilingual Internet presence with comprehensive search functions for the company. The foundation of the new website is the Microsoft .NET based Content Management System (CMS) contentXXL. Permapack required a website where visitors could quickly orient themselves. Due to the company’s diverse products and wide product range, a powerful search function was needed to ensure visitors would be able to find specific products as quickly as possible. With an index server that automatically sorts content based on key words, the new Permapack website provides multiple search possibilities in several languages, including German, English and French. The company is planning to add Italian to the comprehensive website.
Permapack provides a wide range of technical goods for manufacturers in the machine, electronic and paper industries as well as for the building industry and retail market. The company’s product range covers packaging and surface protection films, self-adhesive labels and adhesive tapes as well as sealing compounds and sealing systems. The entire product catalogue, which is also available on the new Permapack website, contains more than 1350 items.
The wide range of products made a new Internet presence necessary. Now, through an extensive search function, customers can access information on every product. Moreover, the Swiss company wanted to offer its website in English as well as in the official languages of Switzerland: German, French and Italian.
The contract for the new website was awarded to Online Consulting AG, also a Swiss based company. Online Consulting, as a contentXXL International GmbH solutions partner, has a long history of experience with the Content Management System contentXXL. The CMS is completely based on Microsoft .NET and has high modularity functionality and configuration options, even in the basic version. Using the standard module, a search index server is employed, automatically sorting the entire website content by key words, building up full text search capabilities. Searches can be carried out on an object level across the whole website or only in specific sections.

"One of the key attributes of contentXXL is the Content Relationship Management feature. The feature establishes relationships between individual content objects (product, product description, PDF documents, contacts, alternative and/or complementary products) and brings together isolated information that is logically connected. The visitor is able to find the information quicker and in context.
