The Leipzig Chamber of Industry and Commerce (CCI) opened its new website on November 6, 2007 under www.leipzig.ihk.de. With the new site, the Chamber is taking a step towards customer oriented service. The business portal, based on the Business Content Management System contentXXL, sets the course for future developments and symbolises the modernisation of the CCI’s internal structure. The website also symbolises the collaboration with the young and competent Leipzig Team from itCampus Software- and Systemhaus GmbH.

"In regards to content on the site, it brings the services aspect to the foreground,” said Dr. Thomas Hofmann, Chief Executive of the CCI Leipzig. "We’ve made access to our information and services easier. Often, many members don’t know what the Chamber provides. With the newly designed website we make our services transparent for the businesses and are well-positioned for the future.”

The ever-growing amount of information offered by the Chamber needs a clear and easy to breakdown structure. For this purpose, businesses were polled on their expectations from the CCI Leipzig. "The challenge was to match the CCI Leipzig website to the needs of the companies,” explained Wolfgang Topf, President of the CCI Leipzig. "Industry and group orientation played an important roll. It is meaningful that the new design was completed by a regional company and shows how much potential lays in Central Germany,” said Topf.

Companies and entrepreneurs are provided with target-oriented and industry relevant information on www.leipzig.ihk.de. But that’s not all, there is also a user-friendly contact section between companies and their corresponding contact partners in the Chamber. Another important target group is students and trainees, which is provided with "tailored” information.

"The CCI Leipzig, for me, has become much more personal with the re-launch,” said Andreas Lassmann, CEO of itCampus. "The new website offers every company quick access to the respective specialists and provides, at the same time, a multitude of additional industry information - that is in every sense a real added value.” What makes this all possible is the Business Content Management System contentXXL, which itCampus customised to the individual requirements of the CCI and its members.

"I am very satisfied with the solution-oriented cooperation and the results. It was clear that a technical restructuring in these circumstances would be a challenge for all parties, but the new system alleviated the scepticism of my colleagues. The project partner took care of the necessary user acceptance by using the already extensive contentXXL basic system to continually meet and expand on the needs of the CCI Leipzig. This approach closed the deal for us,” explained Hagen Reissman, Project Leader for the CCI Leipzig. "For sudden additional requirements, such as content filtering by economic sectors, contentXXL and the solution partner itCampus were very flexible and reacted quickly. All in all, I consider the joint project a very good and stable starting point for further cooperation and a strong foundation for a corporate-oriented website.”

An interdisciplinary project team consisting of staff from itCampus and the CCI Leipzig worked closely together on many levels from the conception to completion of the project. Their competencies complimented each other very well. On the one side is itCampus, a young company in an emerging industry with technical know-how and, as a chamber member themselves, a part of the target group of the website. On the other side is the CCI Leipzig, an well-established representation of economic interests with an exact understanding of businesses’ needs. The cooperation between the CCI and itCampus lasted over half a year and will continue into the coming years to expand on the services offered by the website. Broadening the website re-launch with multi-lingual content is already planned.
