SDL Tridion strengthens market presence in Asia Pacific

SDL Tridion, a leading global provider of Web Content Management (WCM) software solutions and part of SDL plc, a leading provider of Global Information Management (GIM) solutions, today announces the official opening of its new office in Tokyo, Japan and the appointment of Hans de Groot as Vice President Sales Asia Pacific & Middle East.
The opening of the new office is part of the company’s strategy to aggressively expand its operations across the globe. Pieter Varkevisser, CEO of SDL Tridion: "With our new office in Tokyo and a dedicated Japanese sales, consultancy and support team in place, we will be able to capitalize on the increasing number of opportunities in Japan and provide local support to our global customers. In building our Japanese market presence, we expect to leverage the strong roster of blue chip Japanese companies, including Toyota, Lexus, Ricoh, Honda, Yamaha, Daikin and Canon that use our WCM solutions in Europe or the United States. The Asia Pacific region, and especially Japan, is of great strategic value for SDL Tridion as it is expected to be the fastest growing WCM market in the next years. We expect to announce additional steps in our Asia Pacific expansion in the next 12 months.”
Underlining the strategic importance of the Asia Pacific region, Hans de Groot has been appointed Vice President Sales Asia Pacific & Middle East. Hans joined SDL Tridion in 2001 as International Alliance Manager and was responsible for building up strong alliances including IBM, BEA and Software AG. Prior to his appointment, he was Sales Director International with the responsibility for SDL Tridion’s direct operations in Sweden, France, Germany, Spain and the partner network in Poland, the Middle East, Australia and Japan.
The Japanese sales team is headed by Kanji Takehashi, who during the last four years worked as Pre-sales and later Sales Manager with FatWire. Before FatWire, Kanji worked in business development and as technical account manager for Sun Microsystems K.K. as part of the Planet/SunONE division.
