Presenting a collection of essays by renowned authors in the field such as Andrew McAfee, David Weinberger and Don Tapscott, and offering real-world examples from SAP, Nokia and Vodafone, this new volume analyzes new forms of corporate management and management culture.

"Enterprise 2.0 - Die Kunst, loszulassen” is an anthology of articles by renowned authors and experts in the field such as Andrew McAfee, Don Tapscott and David Weinberger, also presenting selected case studies from Nokia, SAP, Vodafone and CoreMedia. The contributed articles discuss how Web 2.0 can offer companies both opportunities and potential for growth, while also investigating the consequences for management and corporate culture that such changes imply. What changes do companies need to make, in order to survive as an Enterprise 2.0? Does management benefit from "letting go”, and delegating part of its authority? The book is published by Rhombos Verlag (Berlin) and is available in bookstores nationwide, or can be ordered from Amazon.

"Whether established or just getting started, every company will need to consider Enterprise 2.0 when developing their management strategy,” explains Sören Stamer, co-editor of the volume and CEO of CoreMedia AG. "The worldwide network has given rise to a paradigm shift: Web 2.0 is now changing the very way we live, the ways in which we communicate and even how we work together. There’s no going back. This paradigm shift is insistent, and doesn’t simply stop at the company's reception desk. Quite the opposite is true: the capability to work better and faster together as a collective, and to learn from one another, is fast becoming a decisive competitive advantage.”

"With this volume, we want to support companies in their efforts to learn from one another, and to better understand and make use of the chances and risks that Enterprise 2.0 brings,” adds Willms Buhse, co-editor and executive director at CoreMedia. "Only by mastering the art of letting go can company management make the leap from a controlling culture to a culture of trust - and reap the benefits of innovation, creativity and quality. We would like to extend our especial thanks to the authors who have shared their thoughts and experiences with us.”

How will we work together in the future? How can companies continue to achieve success in a market that is ever more complex and dynamic? How does self-organization work together with management? How best can one organize the change from Enterprise 1.0 to Enterprise 2.0? Which tools and methods have proved to be best practice? The aim of this book is to illuminate the various aspects of Enterprise 2.0 with the help of experts and pioneers in the field - and to encourage the reader to pursue the subject further. Co-editors Willms Buhse and Sören Stamer wanted to dedicate an entire book to a subject that had previously been largely confined to discussions within the Internet blogosphere, in order to also reach readers not present in this environment.

The articles contained in this volume present an overview of the current state of corporate Enterprise 2.0, noting potential benefits and opportunities for its introduction, while suggesting how best to handle management re-structuring in traditionally-organized companies. In the Introduction, Götz Hamann, business editor for Die Zeit, describes breaking down the model of the traditional division of work associated with Ford and Taylor. David Weinberger, author, consultant and speaker, and currently a Fellow of the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University, contributes a chapter that clearly shows how the loss of control in its traditional form is an intentional side-effect of Enterprise 2.0. The management consultant Don Tapscott even talks of an "Age of Collaboration”, explaining why "Social Software" such as instant messaging, wikis, blogs or social bookmarking is becoming ever more important. Michael Koch, professor at the IT faculty of the Universität der Bundeswehr Munich, offers a retrospective of the prehistory of Enterprise 2.0, long before the days of the Internet economy.
